The Apprentice Finale

Addendum: If, when Kwame (hypothetically) chose Nick, he cast a conspiratorial wink and grin at Troy, he coulda been the master of psychological warfare against Bill. If Bill chose Troy at that point, he'd be constantly worrying about his loyalty; if he didn't choose Troy, he'd be constantly wondering whether he should've, given Troy's amazing people skills (which seems to be Bill's biggest deficit).

Second, a nitpick: when he chose O, Nick was already taken. Omarosa, Heidi, and Katrina were the only ones left. All the final five (Kwame, Bill, Amy, Nick, and Troy) were spoken for by that point.
I thought the pick order was Amy, Troy, Katrina, Omarosa, Nick, Heidi. I remember thinking to myself it was odd that Bill took Katrina over Nick. I might very well be wrong though, and I can't watch the showing tonight to confirm it.

Order of Choices:

Bill: Amy

Kwame: Troy

Bill: Katrina:

Kwame: Omarosa

Bill: Nick

Kwame: Heidi

In other words, when Kwame chose Omarosa Nick was not taken, but Katrina was. Kwame admitted he would have taken Katrina over Omarosa had Nick not taken her. He then said he felt like Omarosa would work better for him if he had chosen her.

My basic point is, Kwame didn't really get hurt by anyone but himself. He didn't pick first, but when he did pick, he didn't pick well. Picking Troy was a no-brainer for him, the two had a great working relationship. However with his second pick he had Nick, Omarosa and Heidi to choose from and picked (in my opinion) the worst of the three remaining candidates.

Then he didn't do a whole lot with the talent he had.

He had Troy working with Heidi, Omarosa by herself, and he was managing. That's a horrible choice. I would never leave Omarosa alone. If he wasn't willing to put Troy with Omarosa *he* should have taken the responsibility of managing her.

I liked Kwame and thought he deserved to come in second. However Bill smoked him in the final round.

Bill's employees complained he micromanaged them, to which he responded, "I wasn't going to leave my fate in their hands."

For that alone he deserved to win. It's nice to manage from an office and let your employees do their thing when you have good employees. When I was a retail manager I had that luxury a time or two.

But when you have subpar employees then the manager has to get in there and work, often taking the worst employees under his direct supervision. Why? Because management will ultimate take the heat if the job isn't done. Kwame wasn't willing to do that, so he deserved to lose.

One factor we don't know is whether there were any rules concerning team selection. For example, if they were required to have equal male/female ratios, then after Bill picked Katrina the teams were effectively set (and Kwame really only made one pick). I don't know if there were any such rules, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Well Kwame made two choices really. When he picked Troy there were 5 teammates still available and when he picked Omarosa he had three people to choose from.

Trump did take into account that he picked Omarosa. If he had gotten stuck with her it would have been one thing, but Trump clearly stated in the boardroom that picking her was a lapse in judgement in his opinion.

Regardless of who he chose, how he handled them killed him. Again although they didnt pay much attention to it, Katrina gave Bill something of a hard time, and he was all over the place watching his employees constantly.

To quote Bill from his Today show interview, "These were unpaid, previously terminated employees and I was not going to leave my fate in their hands."

That's just smart. Kwame assumed his team would work hard on his behalf and even after Omarosa lied to him continued to allow her to operate alone.

Just a bad decision.

Kwame would have been a good choice, as would Amy, but I dont think either would have been as good a choice as Bill.
