In the modern human world, there's lots of people who see some elements of dance in the kata forms of many martial arts. But, for dwarves, who are primarily weapon users, why not think of their weapon practice forms as a sort of music?

Especially considering that their performance spaces are often going to be underground cavernous places with interesting natural or engineered acoustics, but that are going to be pretty expensive to light? Imagine a thousand dwarves in an dim acoustic auditorium, listening to the performance that's a weapon-clashing piece about some legendary battle?

Playing off my prior posts, I’d imagine the weapons and armors used in dwarven musical martial practice would be tuned. Striking Gorvald’s left greave with your hammer would result in an A and C; Markus’ blow to the same with his axe might result in an A and F. Etc.

Dwarven battle katas would therefore use pitch and tempo to train proper technique with actual music. Dwarven battle songs would, in fact, be keeping them mindful of how to actually fight,
