The biggest (and coolest) miniature ever!!!

The dragon’s wing are used to inflate the numbers. And it looks like a majority of the mass is in the tail. The Body itself looks slightly larger than a McFarlane Boxset dragon. Impressive, but not $250 impressive, since that price point puts it into competition with Vinyl Model kits.

For example I laid down $250 for a Rackham Tarascus not too long ago.
I strongly suspect that mini’s price point is WHY M.Egos upped the price. Sure they might say "Production Costs" or "Unforeseen Expenses" but I just get the sinking suspicion someone is just raising the price to see how true the old adage of “A fool and his money are soon parted” is in the current economy. Maybe it was a miscommunication, but I have strong doubts the earlier press release would be that far off. I do not have enough evidence to say $100 price point was a lie to build interest in the model, but the thought does gnaw at my untrusting brain.

Regardless the model is now off my to buy list.

Well, your suspicions are wrong. Original price point was targeted at $74.99. It was production costs that inflated the number. It had nothing to do with anyone else's product.

I saw the miniature in person at Origins. I even held it. It is bigger than any dragon miniature I have seen to date including Rackham's. I was also there when several other miniature enthusiasts and professional painters were standing there commenting about the price and quality. The overwhelming consensus is that $250 is a very appropriate price point for this dragon. In fact, I saw two people preorder it while I was standing there. It may not be for everyone, but if you haven't seen it in person, it isn't polite to belittle it or the company.

I saw it at the Con. It's a nice piece - no question. I was a little disappointed at how much of it is a rock, but there is no question it is a quality piece. $250 seems fair to me - I just prefer a bulkier dragon.

I just can't drop that sort of money on a fig I'm not going to use, especially when I found a decent-looking plastic dragon that will serve perfectly well for a colossal mini at Toys'R'Us for six bucks.
My DM did the same. After he paints it up, my guess is that it'll look as good as any mini you could buy for 100+ bucks.

Wow, it looks very nice, well sculpted, good pose...

I just wish that I liked what I could see of it. It simply is not what I want in a dragon. :(

Give me Reaper's Gauth, now there is what I call a dragon!

(Edited to remove my own post criticizing Eego's post, since Gospog basically called the matter settled during the time it took me to write my original post.)

Considering that both Gospog and Eego have virtually shook hands and considered the matter closed, bringing it up again serves no useful purpose other than stirring the pot of discord. Also, I should point out that Mag. Egos is far from the only company to not honor a contest or change the rules midstream. For example, WizKids is guilty of the same thing with numerous promotions that involved their Nascar Race Day Game (which is now cancelled by WizKids). It happens within the industry more than I think anyone truly realizes. It's a reality of economics and the veiled threat of legal action is just that, a threat. I doubt any one single gamer is going to spend a large sum of money that would be needed to bring a legal judgment (assuming that there is truly grounds for it) against a company over a matter that really doesn't amount to much in the large scheme of things.

If you like a product and have a use for it in your game, buy it and enjoy it. Letting politics interfere seems a bit silly. Besides, they are some really cool miniatures, especially some of the new spell effects like the Black Blade of Destruction (gotta get me one).
