D&D General the Block defense mode and Damage Protection

le Redoutable

Ich bin El Glouglou :)
here's the idea :

Damage Protection is based on actual hit points, in the following table :

hp - D.P.
1 - 1
3 - 2
6 - 3
10 - 4
15 - 5
21 - 6
..
120 - 15
etc

when you use Block as an action, you double your hp in order to find the corresponding D.P.

hp - D.P. - Block
1 -- 1 --- 1
2 -- 1 --- 2
3 -- 2 --- 3
5 -- 2 --- 4
6 -- 3 --- 4
8 -- 3 --- 5
10 - 4 --- 5
11 - 4 --- 6
14 - 4 --- 7
15 - 5 --- 7
18 - 5 --- 8
21 - 6 --- 8
23 - 6 --- 9
28 - 7 -- 10
33 - 7 -- 11
36 - 8 -- 11
39 - 8 -- 12
45 - 9 -- 12
46 - 9 -- 13
53 - 9 -- 14
55 - 10 - 14
60 - 10 - 15
66 - 11 - 15
68 - 11 - 16

then, if you receive damage up to your Block value you absorb it, while if dmg exceeds Block value you suffer damage ( and D.P. is reduced like in the example below )

example 1 :

you have 60 hp and try to block an attack which deals 12 dmg ===> Block = 15 so dmg is absorbed

example 2 :

you still have 60 hp and try to block an attack which deals 22 dmg ===> Block = 15 , so you suffer damage from your D.P. of 10, which is reduced to 9 , then to 8 ( 10 + 9 out of 22, 3 points being absorbed by your new D.P. value of 8 ( with hp reduced from 60 to -19 ==> 41 ) )
