As they stare Tander and Woe are able to focus their minds enough that they can pierce the magical shroud which envlops the creatures...

[sblock=Everyone who is not Palindrome ;)]

[sblock=I said no Palindrome!]
they see a pair of hulking hairy goblinoids wielding fearsome morningstars which dwarf their own weapons. You know these creatures, they are Bugbears, but these appear more savage than most, dressed in hide armor marked with a symbol almost identical to that of the eye articles in the Screamer - except these eyes are open.[/sblock][/sblock]

OOC: The eye articles had Closed Eyes right? I need to go and check that...

[sblock=OOC]I wanted to sound you folks out about the possibility of recruiting new members. I did PM Hagfrogman and recieved no reply, though I will try again.

I do not feel we need to recruit more, but with precious few DMs it might be nice to do so. Let me know how you feel and we can all discuss if we should expand the group and if so who we should attempt to recruit. :D

Looking forward to seeing how you fellas handle your first battle btw. Those &*$%^&% are tough!

And finally a note on the map, I will try to incorporate the pics you fellas provided instead of letters for the next map. Though I might not do so for those in black and white - I will see how it looks. Incidently is it me or is there a touch of the Han Solo about Palindrome's pic?[/sblock]

I'm fine either way. On the one hand, it's not often I get to run in a 3-person group. On the other hand, there are only 3 of us. :)

We'll see about that. :)

[sblock=OOC] Yes there is definetly something to be said for a small group. I think I will leave the decision to you guys and just play devils advocate - I still gets me DM points either way, hahar! ;)[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I actually prefer these small groups, ideally 3-4, for several reasons:
  • It’s easier to synchronize the pacing of the game between participants, which is immensely important to PBP in my opinion (we all post daily at the moment).
  • It’s easier to ”distribute” how much spotlight each player gets, and there’s more room to explore individual PC backgrounds (the game start was essentially based off Palindrome’s).
  • The game generally runs faster. It should take less time going through combat rounds and less time agreeing on a course of action.

That being said, I feel bad about the tavern being crowded with idle players, so I wouldn’t object to further recruitment. I guess at least one more PC would bring the group more in line with the “expected party size” the game is designed for.

[*]To encourage that... if you post within 24 hours of my post you get +1 to whatever you're doing (this, obviously is particularly important in combat and in combat applies to your attack rolls only).
I think that may exclude initiative, not that it makes any difference in this case.[/sblock]

[sblock=New Players]I like the small group. We've got a good synergy: the good, the bad, and the swarmy. :)[/sblock]
OOC: Here we go! First fight I've ever played in 4E.
[sblock=Rules Clarification]If Palindrome pushes Adie into the blurry things, what sort of action would that be?[/sblock]
Massive spasms rattle Palindrome's body. His left eye sucks into its socket, no larger than a pinhead. His right eye bugs out and radiates a cold, blue-white light. His face contorts into a horrific, death's head grin--teeth bare, foam at the lips. Blood drips from his eyes, nose, ears. Blood sweats from his bare skin.

But the droplets do not fall to the ground. Instead, they drip upwards. When they plash against the ceiling, they vanish with a sizzle, leaving no trace.

Palindrome screams, "The ************** eye is MINE, you *********** sons of ********** **********!"

The droplets of blood congeal into a sphere the size of a human fist. The sphere blasts at Palindrome's enemies.

[sblock=Palindrome casts Force Orb]Palindrome uses Wand of Accuracy. +2 to attack roll.

Force Orb directed at creature at J15. Force Orb (primary attack). (1d20+7=23, 2d8+4=16) (WHOA, MOMMA!)

Force Orb: secondary attack, I15 - Force Orb (secondary attack). (1d20+5=19, 1d10+4=12) [/sblock]

OOC: Palindrome spends an Action Point.

"Oh! And one ******* eye ain't enough for me, baby! No ******** way! I am going to ******* rip the ********** eyes out of you ******* ******** ******** and after I pop the ********** in my ******** pockets, I will ****** in your ********* eye-sockets!"

With final syllable, fire gouts from Palindrome's eyes, nose, ears, and mouth, consuming the...er...blurry things.

[sblock=Palindrome casts Scorching Burst]Burst centered on J15.

Scorching Burst (1d20+5=8, 1d6+4=9, 1d20+5=6, 1d6+4=5)

That stinks. Goodbye Action Point. I hardly knew you.

I guess Palindrome just set the apartment on fire...

:angel:[/sblock]
"***************!" screams Palindrome, seeing the creatures dodge his flames.
