The Closed Eye (DM: Halford, Judge: garyh)

“Son of a gnoll,” curses Woe, drawing towards the cover and shadows of nearby trees at the first signs of trouble.

He brings out his shield, keeping ready to spring forward and stab any approaching foe.

[sblock=Actions]Woe moves to the trees on his west to get as much cover he can against the opposition (Stealth 19 to become hidden), and uses a standard action to bring out his shield.[/sblock]

Each time the alarm screams, "Intruder!" Palindrome screams, "Where?! Where?! Where?!"

He seems quite delighted. Then, the alarm stops.

"Aw...."

[sblock=terrain]The wall is about 7' high, brick, solid. Blocks line of sight and effect. No holes to speak of. DC 10 athletics to climb it and land in a square north of it as a move action. Those on the south side of it are effectively not in combat, so they can take 10. DC 25 athletics or acrobatics to leap over it and keep moving with no movement penalty.

The various plants are difficult terrain: costs two squares to enter a square that has plant in it. Being in a square with a plant provides concealment; if all lines from your square to an opponent's square pass through plant, then you've got total concealment against that enemy and can attempt stealth.

Thus, Woe could go to, say, AG-12, costing 5 squares of movement, and get the total concealment he needs to attempt hiding from all enemies.

If it hasn't become clear by now, I should warn you that I'm entirely too interested in the effects of terrain on combat.[/sblock]

"This can't be good," Tander says, understated as usual.

"Woe!" Tander says, just loud enough for Woe to hear, he hopes. "Woe! What's happening? Should we jump over?"

[sblock=Rules Question]Does a character have to wait until his turn to say something? I'd like for Palindrome to order Neera to serve as a stepladder, so he can hop on her shoulders and shoot targets while using the wall as cover. [Just got the first question answered! Thanks, Oz79!]

Also, what's the probability of the lawn catching on fire after a Flaming Scorching Burst?

[sblock=About the Names of Powers]Ugh! I can't keep the crummy names straight. Can I just make up my own names for my powers?[/sblock][/sblock]

[OOC: Adding 'stepladder' to list of things to put in the bag of holding. (It's a shame they don't have the Robe of Useful Items anymore. That would be on my wish list for Palindrome.)]

[OOC: Have we leveled up yet?]

---

Palindrome flaps his arms and makes an odd face. He speaks in a high-pitched voice, "Oh, no, Palindrome! We couldn't possibly go with your 'burn stuff' plan because it would attract too much attention!"

He laughs.

"Meatshield! Get your **** over here and make a ******* footstool! I need to see over that ******* wall, post haste!"

If Woe had time to reply to Tander before he jumped into hiding, or if he can reply back just loud enough that the far north guards won’t hear:
“Only if you don’t want to miss the fun!”

If Woe would compromise his position by speaking aloud, he keeps quiet, letting the sounds of yelling, flying arrows, and screams of pain speak for themselves when Atreus' likely soon will be attacked.

[sblock=Be wewy wewy quiet… I’m hunting wabbits!]Don’t worry guys, once the bozos run south to engage anyone visible, Woe will dash in from AG-12.[/sblock]

Unwilling to abandon his allies in the face of danger, Tander does his best to pull himself over to the other side - as soon as he clears the top, he heads for his allies, drawing his dagger.

OOC: Tander will hop the fence, then, spotting Woe and Atreus, will move to get behind Woe.

[sblock=ooc]Feel free to talk any time, in character or out, and coordinate your tactics as you see fit. You can bet your enemies are going to communicate and coordinate their attacks. ;)

Nerdytenor: When Tander hops the fence, Woe will have worked his way inside the bushes and stealthed, and you won't see him. It's not like you don't know where he is, but he's not actually visible. Is it your intention to join him in the bushes, or just get close to his position? If you're going in the bushes, are you going to try to stealth? Picking a square would help.

KenHood: How much does Palindrome weigh?

Update in progress...

[sblock=Nature DC 5]
The grass, though long, is green and healthy, and will not burn easily.
[/sblock]

Tander, while not usually a sneaky fellow, finds the presence of a row of enemies strangely motivating, and decides to hide.

[sblock=Details]
Moving to AH12
And being all stealthy like Stealth 16
