Round 4, continued

Woe charges into the darkness, but his spear finds only more darkness. (close, but wrong square)

Palindrome weaves unsteadily forward.

Round 5

Tander rises and his faith shines forth, renewing himself completely. His eyes blaze with determination. (surely that's got to be some kind of healing record, right?)

The gravehound turns on the new foe behind it, sinking its jaws into Atreus' leg and pulling him down. Deathlike chills run up the rogue's leg. (hit, 7 damage, Atreus is knocked prone and takes 5 ongoing necrotic (save ends))

Woe hears splashing ahead and to his left, very near at first and then moving east. After a moment there is a quiet curse, and a dim light flickers. By its faint illumination Woe sees reflections off of moving water ahead. He cannot see the light source itself; there must be a corner in the way. (water squares are difficult terrain. There's a light source around the corner, though it's not as big as what the map shows. I had to wrestle pretty hard with the map to get it to show something vaguely resembling the situation, and this is the best I came up with.)

[sblock=Actions]Woe spends all his actions running for the light source. Since its all difficult terrain I guess that only puts him at O13, though.

Sorry, no time for a full post.[/sblock]

"Fight me, death beast!" Tander yells. He does his best to burn the hound with divine fire, but can't muster the necessary strength to do so. His protective powers spent, he moves in close to the beast and hollers bloody murder at it, hoping to at least distract it from his ally.

OOC: Sacred flame misses. Oh dear, not good. Move to -A, 5 and pray the doggie attacks Tander instead of Atreus. Save vs. necrotic fails. Eeek.

Round 5

Atreus winces as the corruption saps his strength. He stands, but misses the gravehound. (bloodied again from ongoing damage.)

Woe chases towards the lights. As soon as he turns the corner, however, he sees the silhouette of the snake lady, pointing her arm. The world goes crazy. The walls shake and melt, twisting at impossible angles. The floor slopes somehow both ways at once, undulating furiously, as if in mockery of Woe's tongue gestures. (snake lady's readied action fires, illusory terrain hits Woe, who is slowed (save ends). Using normal moves, he can only get as far as O8. Using two run actions, he could get as far as column 10. I suspect you'll end up doing a run and a charge, getting to O9 and attacking with -5, so I've put you there. We can change this if you disagree. Either way, you do get to roll a save at the end of this turn against the slowed condition.)

Palindrome runs after the light as well. Despite his befuddled state, he manages to turn the corner and bring his light to bear, clearly illuminating the snake lady and, a few paces farther down what is obviously part of Daunton's sewer system, Arnest, holding a candle.

Round 6

Tander misses the gravehound, and moves next to it, hoping to distract it from Atreus, who is wavering.

Alas, the gravehound ignores the cleric, and pulls Atreus to the ground again, inflicting a matching bloody wound on his other leg. (hit, 7 damage and prone.)

The priestess... (I want to wait for Woe's charge attack to resolve before going any farther.)

Woe stumbles around in the illusionary haze imposed upon him, tilting through the crazy irregularities and going for its source.

“Wooo, slither me a spell!” he babbles. “Baby, you sure know how to set the mood!”

Incredibly, the warrior maintains enough focus to single out the snake lady and closes the distance. He rushes in and puts her off-balance with a feinting spear thrust near her feet, only to deliver a swift backhand shield-bash to her temple that almost knocks the woman off her feet.

Careful observers could swear that the emblem of Woe’s smiling face - depicted on his shield - just barely connects lips with those of the priestess.

“Here, let me make it up to you with a little smooch, darling!”

Catching sight of Arnest behind her, Woe grins in expectation and recovers the Weird Root they found at the apartment of the noble’s lady friend. Woe puts it between his own lips, ready to be lighted.

“Let me guess, Arch-jest, smoking this stuff wasn’t enough so you slipped to the medicine Miss Forked Tongue just tried on me?”

“Well I hope you’ve enjoyed your high, because it’s a long way down from here.”

[sblock=Actions]Move Action: Run.
Standard Action: Charge.
Minor Action: Bring out Arnest’s nasty habit, just for the sake of bad boy attitude.
Free Action: Spew mad one-liners.

Woe hits AC 23 for 7 damage, knocking the priestess out rather than kill her. Naturally, Woe saves vs slow - really, at this point he’s basically Shaft.

Round 6, continued

The priestess crumples beneath Woe's blow, unconscious.

"No! Tsasha!" Arnest screams. Are those tears running down his face? He hurls a blast of magic that caroms wildly off the ceiling and into the water. He turns and runs away, splashing in the dim corridor.

Atreus tries to stand, but the numb blackness from his wounds overcomes him. He collapses, unconscious. (Atreus drops to 0 HP from ongoing damage. He is dying and needs to make saves vs. death and vs. ongoing damage.)
