The Dance of Souls

"Good idea Banion. I do wish we could talk with Garum as I think is he against the Talon as well, but I suppose it can't be risked." Beamer thinks, Looks like we have several nights in the wilderness to look forward to. At least Gur is along. He seems to know the wilds well. I've slept in worse places. When they get to a point where they can stop for a minute or two, Beamer say, "Gur, could you take a look at this wound? It still hasn't stopped bleeding."

ooc: Knight, I have a suggestion that I hope you won't take as being too pushy. Given that we've lost half our number, and that first level characters are so fragile, would you consider a partial xp award upon our leaving the city and setting up camp in the woods. (If we even accomplish this, that is.) In a few days, we'll hit 6 months of gaming time. Between 600 xp from time, the spider battle, the rogue battle, and *lots* of sneaking around, I'm hoping we've got enough to kick us up to 2nd level.

Not critical either way, but 6 months is a long time to be first level!

(I actually hoped to get you to level 2 by the time you leave Lathirn anyway, depending on what leads you follow. So, what's the plan regarding Rose and Sam? Drag them along? Or leave them here, hoping the Talon doesn't go after them?
Which direction do you plan to move in after leaving Lathirn?)

Gur gets out his healing stick again, and heals Beamer (1 charge, full), Azaroth (1 charge, full), and himself (3 charges, 8 hp healed, 19/29 hp). (6 charges used)

ooc: Hmm. I've been ignoring Rose and Sam on the assumption that the players were out of the picture, and therefore the characters. Kind of figured that they "headed back to the Red Dragon Inn." If you want to play them as NPCs, are they in the Inn as far as we know?

Once we get out of the city, I want to set up between Lathirn and the mountains, preferably in the woods so we have cover, but near a road so we can monitor trafic and hopefully spot the bad guys.

Edit: I will update my character sheet with the assumption that 8 slingstones were used an not recovered. An aproximation.

OOC:
[SBLOCK]Is there an in character reason for Rose and Sam not accompanying the group? For example, when the party woke up this morning, they could have greeted us and said, "This town smells funny. We are leaving." Alternately, they both could have come down with the flu and so were resting up. Obviously, the party would have to deal with those circumstances differently. Beamer would want to warn them in some way if they are still around. DM's discretion as to why they are not here.[/SBLOCK]

OOC: Heh Airwhale came back for a single post, and then sort of disappeared. As for Rose. Well we haven't seen her in a really long time. I suppose that they could just go back to the Red Dragon. If they come back.. merely explain to them that they were inactive for too long so they had to be written out. Hopefully Creamsteak will come back soon.

As for the XP situation, it may be an idea to give us an idea about our XP situation. Just so we have an idea.

IG: We are already seen as the enemy in this city. Perhaps we should start thinking a little more unconventionally. We have no real idea where the keep is, aside from being outside the city. Perhaps we should attempt to contact Tennar and see what sort of contacts he uses. Perhaps he could even help us out with the location of the keep. But I agree that one of our first priorities is to escape from the city without being located.

Azaroth will also thank Gur for the healing.

Apparently Sam and Rose Marie received a warning from an anonymous friend while you were out talking to Fourdrinker and then the thieves. According to Kenatur, they left the city shortly after you went out of the Scimitar.

"What sort of unconventional thinking do you have in mind? I'm not willing to attack guards, but otherwise I'm open to ideas. Let's hurry along as we speak, though. After calling an alert, they may get creative as well."

ooc: Thanks, Knight. That ties up some loose ends nicely.

After being healed by Gur, Beamer says quietly, "Wow! Thanks Gur. I was about ready to pass out, but now I feel great."

"We still have Tennar's small art piece. It would be nice to get it back to him, though I don't wish to risk my life for it. We could use some more information about this mountain fortress. The closest mountains, the Stonespikes, are 300 miles away. But if Tennar knew where the fortress was, I think he would have told us before."

Beamer eagerly awaits Azaroth's exposition on unconventional thinking.

I don't suggest attacking guards.
But there are bound to be some people in this city who aren't widely accepted by society. Lets see if Tennar knows of any. He knows the city, he knows the people. He knew immediately that we weren't who we said we were, we know he has dealings that aren't to be publicly known. he might know a whole lot more about this town than we expect. Granted I'm grasping at clouds with toothpicks But we know he is friendly, he wouldn't have given Beamer and I a chance to escape if he was with the Ashen Talon.

He may be our only friend in the city and he may be our only hope to understanding our situation.
