The Dance of Souls

hmm I suppose. I was wondering if perhaps these two animal attacks might perhaps tell us something about at least one of our enemies. But I guess its not really worth it to give much thought to it.

I agree with Banion though. We should get moving.

With the final spider felled, Beamer says, "Good show my friends!" He claps each of them on the back (or other sutible body part in reach) excitedly.

"Hmmmm. A good observation Azaroth, but I think the animals may tell us of the state of the woods rather than our enemies. Our quarry appear comfortable in the woods and may have intentionally lead us in a direction they knew to be infested with such creatures."

OOC: I'm back.

Having settled Jasper, Rose Marie turns to the others. "While I'm interested in the psychology of animals and why they attacked as well as anyone, I really think we should be moving. We do have a job to do, and I don't think these spiders have anything to do with it."

After the short discussion on spider communication, the group continues on the road for four more days. Gur is again able to provide most of the group with food on his own, except for two on the first day, and one on the second day. Late on the fourth day, the group reaches the gates of Lathirn. Two half-orcs stand guard and block your way, asking where you are headed. A large wolf-like creature in leather armor, connected by a leash with a third, quite hulking half-orc, stand near the gate, and you are not quite sure if the wolf or the half-orc is leashed by the other. These two seem to be on a patrol and shortly stopped to watch you, the newcomers to the city.

Gur:
[sblock]Judging by a few subtle hints, you decide that the wolf is in fact a worg, a canine normally hunting in packs, and renowned for its evil intellect. This particular worg propably isn't normal for its kind.[/sblock]

Looking astonished by the wolf like creature standing ahead of him Azaroth is intrigued by what it could be. But then when the guard asks the question he looks up and says

We are interested in trade. Because this is the largest town we have come across in a couple of days we figured all sorts of very interesting things would be found here.

OOC: I don't think this would classify as a bluff since its not exactly opposite from the truth. But if it is then my cha mod is +3 for my cha.

"Hey Grom. Hey Cosmos. How's it going?"

"Oh wait... your not Joe, and that's not Cosmos... that one is way bigger than Cosmos."

Gur idles and scratches his head for a minute while he watches what happens.

Beamer will hang back behind the Gur and Azaroth for the moment. He looks around, appearing tired from their travels and bored by this interruption. However, his eyes keep traveling back to the wolf like creature. He also makes a casual attempt to see passed the guards and into the city.

One of the guards grunts in contempt. "Ya don' look like merchn'ts, naw. W'll, ya mite be spec'l merchn'ts, if ya kno' wud ah'm sayin'. Wher'da plan ta stay durin' ta nite?"
The guard gives Gur a puzzled look, and waits for a reply.
The city, at least the parts you can see through the gates, appears quite chaotic. There seems to be no common architecture, and many buildings could be in much better repair. Many people wander the streets, and it seems there are much more half-orcs among them that you are accustomed to even from Orussus.
As you speak with the guards, the wolf-like creature pulls the leash, and together with the hulking half-orc, continue their patrol, soon out of sight.

Well you look like an orc who knows the town. We haven't been here before, perhaps you could suggest a proper inn to conduct business?

"Ha'f-orc, baldy." Before that particular guard can go on with his tirade, the other guard chimes in.
"Dere's de Broken Skull, the nearest one, just do'n the road, can be pretty ro'dy dere. Den dere's the Dancin' Scimita', a bid more ta wa'k, but mo'e friendly. Ya can fin' traders in both inns. Befo'e ya go in, ya should ged yer weapons piecebo'nd. Nod needed, re'lly, bud enc'raged."
The guard will "peacebind" the weapons of those who accept, but he does a rather shoddy job - the bond would be no obstacle even when needing the waepon quickly.
