Well, if nothing else, I know D20 mechanics. He has to roll to see if he hits the square I'm in (easy) but then I get a saving throw since this is autofire. I use an action point! Heck, I use several action points. I create a singularity of action points by which I not only escape that square, but I also turn my shotgun on him, then make for the semi parked nearby.

Phew, that was a close one.

Discoveriy has been airing some really pessimistic shows lately.

We're at the corner of the Singularity -- when humanity creates an intelligence that is way smarter than us. Once that happens, the future is quite literally unimaginable.

Everyone in SciFi has known about this for like 50 years. That's why there's a line in the SciFi sand ("here and no farther"). Sane, super-human AIs will have consequences that are known to be unknowable. :)

So, what's left when you take away all the GOOD ways that tomorrow could be different than today? Well, all the really really BAD ways... and thus, the disaster genre.

Well, the damage from the grenade has to get through the hardness of the semi before even beginning to cause the vehicle (let alone me) any real damage, plus there's a pretty good chance that the pre-war technology won't work anyway, and I have hit points to spare, so I think I'll just let this one play out as I start up the semi, build up some speed, turn it around, and try to run him down.
