The Discovery downer

I was wondering if there was not a Stargate connection, saw a number of re-occuring cast members on it. :D

I have lived through too many 'the end is now' events to really care, give me something I will see in my life time, will not list because politics. :D

and as far as I remember, that lorica hakuna matata junk was like a skirt, so it could easily be lifted so you could go pee as well as various other activities whilst on the field of battle.

;)
So, are you saying pants were invited because:
A...We stopped being afraid in combat
B...The invention of the latrine
C...All the above

:) ;)

Could not help myself.

The Super Volcano three hour docu drama was actually pretty good. I think they handled things well.
Really? I thought it was awful. Essentially, I feel like I sat through two and a half hours of bad acting and hysterics to get half an hour of science--which, incidentally, showed the opposite of the scenario shown in the first two and a half hours!

Ick.

I wish I'd seen the dragon program, though. At least I wouldn't have to sit through two and a half hours to figure out the "truth" they're portraying. :p

yup, exactly. :)

Though, if Robert E. Lee had worn the lorica stuff, maybe the south would have won the civil war, cuz you know his army fell apart cuz he was sick with the runs or whatever, and couldn't command too well from the outhouse lol

Man, those are some bummer stories. I'm smack in between Yellowstone and the Pacific Northwest coastline. Bummer.

Tell me about it, buddy. I live on the Long Beach Peninsula, about a half-mile away from the ocean. Way back in 1985 (when I was 12) there was this big earthquake (either in Alaska or Japan; I can't quite remember). Anyway, they ended up evacuating everyone at about 5 PM, and weren't allowed to go back home until around 2 AM (and I STILL had to go to school the next day!). The wave was supposed to be about 50 feet high going 300 mph, but when it reached us it was more like 5 feet high going 3 mph. Someone said there was a trench about 10 miles or so off the coast, but I'm not sure about that one.

Another scary thing: The Long Beach Peninsula is essentially a 28-mile long sandbar. If an earthquake happened nearby powerful enough to cause a tsunami, it would be a coin flip as to what would get us: The tsunami or liquefaction (where the LBP would turn into a 28-mile long pool of quicksand). After the recent tsunami disaster, they ran an article in the local paper about tsunamis, and how if a powerful earthquake occured in the Pacific, we would have about ten minutes -tops- to get to safety. Which in my case means the top of my apartment building.

I'll take KMAG for $300, Alex.

Did I mention that I live close by a semi-active volcano (Mt. St. Helens, about 100 miles or so away) and three dormant volcanoes: Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Ranier? Well, I do.

JFYI, anyone here remember the background history of Shadowrun, specifically, the Great Ghost Dance, where Daniel Howling-Coyote caused those four volcanoes to erupt at the same time? Thanks a lot, Mr. Shadowrun designer. I haven't had nightmares like that since St. Helens blew in '80 (I was six, and yes, I am prone to nightmares. Even now).

Somebody mentioned that dragon show, I think it was on Animal Planet? Anyway, my wifes idiot pot smoking uncle thinks they're real now. Swear to God.

My father in law was sitting in the room with us when he was talking about them. We just sort of shared a look.
