The Dragons Reborn I: Burning Streets (Feng Shui)

As Mao dangles over the edge of the balcony, he can't help but remember his grandfather's wisdom.

The old man, his body ravaged from a longstanding love of opium leaned close and whispered with foul breath, "For every up, there is a down, child. Never forget that."

Not that such pithy sayings help Mao at /all/ in this particular situation. As his fingers begin to slip on the slick metal railing, he notices Tony holding a young woman hostage below. Well, if he's got to fall...

Mao swings his legs forward, trying to build up some momentum. At the apex of his swing, he kicks off an exposed wooden rafter and propels himself at Tony and his attractive hostage.

<<I think it probably goes without saying that I'm blowing another fortune die on this Martial Arts attack, specifically targeting Tony, but at least knocking away his hostage.>>

Mao swings and drops down from the balcony attempting to break May free from Tony Shen's grip, but misjudges his distance and lands on a table past him. As he lands, he rolls with the drop and the table flips down behind him.

Jadefinger whirls and shoots the mook that hit him, putting a hole in the man's shoulder. He staggers back and is almost sent to his knees by the pain, but he does remain standing.

OOC:
Mao: +2, +5 Fortune, -4 + 11 Martial Arts = 14, Miss
Jadefinger: +3, -10 +15 Guns = 8, Hit - Not enough to take the mook out.

Mao: Out of shots
Jadefinger: Out of shots
Tony: Out of shots
Tony's Men: Out of shots
Jack Frost: 1
Mark's Men: 1

Kane catches up with the Bruiser and catches him off-guard with his rabbit punch and with a subtle flow of chi his unique ability steals the Bruiser's strength, giving the brute his own in exhange.

Distracted by Kane's attack, the Bruiser grunts and swats to his side to rid himself of his newfound annoyance. Meanwhile, the gunman fires and misses again, and the new wave of mooks waste their ammunition with wild abandon.

Enraged by Shinji's taunting, Eiji leaps forward with a deep growl and attempts to plant his fist into Shinji's face - but fails.

OOC:

Kane: Embezzle, +2, -2 = Hit! You spend three chi points and now have a strength of 10 for the rest of this sequence, while the Bruiser is stuck with your 5.
Bruiser: +3, -2 = Miss
Gunman: Snapshot +2, -4 = Miss
Mooks: Pathetic, really pathetic, average, average, and poor.
Eiji: +2, -1 = Miss

Hai Lee Fong can tell that they're definitely not from his boss's gang, and therefore technically rivals. What's more important is that these are the bastards that cut you off and almost made you scratch your baby! Grrrr!

Kane: 5
Gunman: 5
Bruiser: 4
Shinji: 5
Eiji: 3
Mooks: 4

Encouraged by his stolen might, Kane seizes the bruiser's arm, tripping him in a wild, windmilling trajectory towards the gunmen.

"If you want the bitch, you can have her after I'm out the door!" Tony shouts to Jack Frost as he again attempts to shoot Jadefinger. May knocks his arm aside as he fires, however, sending his shot way off its mark.

"Bloody amateurs," Jack mutters.

In the confusion of the last few shots, Jack's lost his steady aim; rather than risk shooting May, he decides to take a more . . . hands on approach to dealing with Tony.

Jack runs across the table tops in Tony's direction, and at the end takes a flying leap . . . past Tony, landing with a tumble, then standing up between him and the exit.

"You won't be going out the door."

Fong looks at his watch. "
He really need to watch is speach...
, I am late. Well, if I can bring him something of interest, he may forgive me, like that guy. If the rivals are interested in him, I am sure my boss can do something worth out of him.

Fong remove the safety on his gun and push the accelerator.

"You want to scratch my car, you wish is granted."

Fong will try to Ram the Gunner. If he is too far, he will go with the Bruiser. If he is still too far, well, he accelerate and shoot the gunner with his gun.

Jadefinger curses as he notices that his mad volley failed to do anything but wound the mook who shot him. Dammit! he fumes. I should have known -- when you lose your temper, you lose your touch!. Jadefinger's USP, now with only five rounds left in the clip, is now hot enough to burn whoever grabs the barrel.

He brings the gun around again, expecting to see Tony out the door, and what he sees instead brings a smile to his face. Two men -- the gambler who was with him when Mark was shot, and the crazy gwailo who managed to keep the mooks off him -- are now standing between Tony and the exit!

Shinji is barely able to see the action by the van, only catching a fleeting glimpse of the red haired fighter attacking the man who had launched the counter at him. Still unwilling to risk a full barage from the gunmen in that party, he keeps himself mostly in the cover of the doorway as he continues his battle with Eiji.

"Awww, did your playmates fall down? Don't worry, you'll be joining them shortly...in hell."

Eiji's fist screams at his face, but Shinji slips back into the doorway like a ghost, his movement's barely perceptable as his left arm twists around Eiji's, hooking behind his head and driving him face first into the edge of the doorway before Shinji's fingers wrap around his hair and pull him away, leaving him open for a follow up hammerfist blow to the temple.

OOC: Standard attack on Eiji, keeping Shinji in the doorway and leaving Eiji out to absorb bullets.

Jack Frost positions himself between Tony Shen and the front door, intending to prevent him from escaping no matter what.

Mark Huan's loyal men rise to the occasion once more as they take to their arms, sending Shen's remaining enforcers ducking for cover. The result is more property damage than personal.

OOC: New Initiatives!

Jadefinger 13 (16 if using Fast Draw this sequence)
Jack Frost 14
Mao 13
Tony 13
Tony's Men 6
Mark's Men 11
???? - 16

With his sudden strength, Kane seems to be able to throw the Bruiser effortlessly, though thanks to the brute's thick skin he is able to quickly shrug off the pain of landing.

Shini's deft maneuvering proves fruitful as Eiji completely falls for the attack. With ease, Shinji smashes Eiji's temple with a loud thud, and the yakuza muscle is left dazed for a moment.

Back near the van, the gunman shouts "Stop screwing around, Tanabe! We've got to keep these guys busy until they can get the Big Guy here!" as he begins to take aim.

With a sudden squealing of tires, one bitchin' camaro* seems to race in from out of nowhere. The bruiser gets back to his feet in time to find himself staring down a pair of headlights and in an instant go rolling over and behind the car as it roars past.

As they see the speeding car hurtling towards them, the yakuza scatter to the sides of the street and open fire with their SMGs. The volley of fire puts several holes in the car, and almost shatters the windshield. One of the thugs trips as he moves aside, however, placing him directly in the line of fire as he does so. With a red spray, he sinks to the ground.

OOC: Ok, since both of you are using your actions to help shield yourselves from fire, I'm giving both of you 50% cover from ranged attacks - until you do something that will leave you in the open, of course. I'm also cancelling Tanabe's action - being thrown only to immediately be HIT BY A CAR just isn't something you shrug off so easily, not even a Big Bruiser.

The sudden noise seems to snap Eiji back to attention and with a blur he punches Shinji in the crown of his head, knocking it into the corner behind him.

Kane: +4, -2 + 13 Martial Arts = HIT! No damage.
Shinji: +5, -1 + 15 Martial Arts = HIT! Decent shot.
Fong: +3, -2 + 15 Drive = HIT! Decent damage
Mooks: Two great hits with their SMGs firing bursts, the car takes 4 Wreck out of its 8. One had a disastrous failure and paid the price.
Eiji: +11, -2 = HIT! Shinji takes 3 Wound points.

Kane: 2
Gunman: 2
Bruiser: 1
Shinji: 2
Eiji: Out of shots
Mooks: 1
Fong: 2

OOC: Hey Velmont, would you do me a favor and post your car's stats along with your character? I'll probably remember it after this, but just in case...

* First and probably only Dead Milkmen reference of the game...

"
Again, things that should not be said...
, you'll pay for that windshield."

Fong aim at one of the mook who damage his car, and shoots at him.

"Taxi is there! If you want a lift, it is now!" Fong say to Kane and Shinji.

OOC: I only have the basic book, so I don't have any idea what a car stats looks like, if someone can give it to me, it will be good.

OOC: I gave you the stats to it in the OOC thread, should be 3 Pep, 8 Wreck, right? That's all there is to vehicles... It'll just be convenient to have it in with your character whenever I have to check it instead of digging through the OOC thread.
