[The End of the World of Darkness] What's White Wolf got up its sleeve?

I'm pretty certain it's not Planescape. Why? Because Planewalker are releasing Planescape d20 stuff at Gencon. Having WW declare at the same time that they're going to do Planescape d20 would be rather odd :p

It's a new line of RPGs that interconnect with each-other. Kind of like Worlds of Darkness, but this time, each game is based on a different 80s television show.

The initial releases will be:

Knight Rider: The Turboing
BJ and the Bear: The Monkeying
A-Team: The Pitying
Dukes of Hazzard: The Bridge-Jumping
CHiPs: The Ponching

Or maybe that's just what the little voices in my head want it to be.

:D

From either company involved - none.

From the retailer/comsumer/distributer end - several. Being an employee of one of the area's FLGS for a number of years, speaking with other game store owners and employees in the region, and speaking with the distributers who got us our product. The topic wasn't generally about just the carryover of WW Storyteller products to Gurps - more often about what's selling, new products coming out, what's been discontinued, market trends, etc etc.

None the less, there you go.

edit/additional: if curious about region: Seattle, Wa area. Darkholder Distributing. (now, sadly, kapuut)

In which case, your information is little better than my urban legend, which in your terms is garbage. I let it drop, as the whole idea of White Wolf versus GURPS was not central to my point of dividing customer bases, and product lines. My urban legend comes from several sources, about as well placed as yours. In no particular order they are a Cam member whose number is two digits long, my FLGS owner who I had a very good relationship with, and the book distributor that serviced Media Play when I managed for that company. Another reason I ignored this subject is for that very first line of yours. There were no press releases, nor any official statement that I am aware of. For all we know it was always limited to a certain number of printings and there were never meant to be any more copies than were made.

As to my region: Houston, TX. Distributor- I really cannot remember. They provided books and other media for Barnes and Noble, the Excelsior companies (Sam Goody, Media Play, etc now part of the Best Buy distribution chain) as well as Blockbuster. It's beena few years since I placed an order.

From White Wolf's website

"Stay Tuned - Big Announcement Saturday

On Saturday of this year's Gen Con, White Wolf will reveal a secret project that has been years in the making. To put it mildly, this is big news. If you are going to Gen Con, you want to make sure you set aside this time!"

Guess we'll find out tomorrow.
