The Faerie Woods [Knight Otu Judging]

Surprise action:

Ishmael spurs Courage to bring him to a place between the Redcap and Percy (K10). While the warpony moves, the Deep Halfling retrieves a vial containing a sap-like liquid from his belt.

Percy dismounts (MEA) keeping the horse between her and the redcap, then pulls her scroll out. If she has time, and if she thinks the Redcap is within 40 feet of her, she'll cast the ray of enfeeblement at the Redcap. If not, she'll plan to move closer next round and use it. I'll go ahead & make the rolls, in case it could be effective this round.

OOC: For a first level spell, spellcraft check DC 21 to read it. Percy gets that by taking 20 at Trimble's cabin. From my reading, it appears that she can now automatically cast the spell if her level is equal to the spell's caster level. Since Trimble is of a hight level, she must make a check. The DC is [spell caster level] +1. Percy's spellcraft is +6. So her chances are good.
Cast spell roll: 13+6=19 - certainly successful
to hit roll: 19+4=23 good job Percy!
Enfeeblement amount: 1d6+[1/2caster levels] = 4+?=??

General Rule: The caster level on a scroll is the caster level of the lowest level at which the spell can be cast, rather than the level of the creator. While it is possible to create scrolls of a higher caster level, that would make the scroll significantly more expensive and would need to be noted very specifically on the item record.

As Ray of Enfeeblement is a 1st level spell, the caster level is 1. Neither Persephone nor Ishmael would need to make any sort of roll to use it.

Also, the check in question is a caster level check if I recall correctly, not a spellcraft check, but as I said no check is required.

Update to follow as quick as I can!

Surprise Round
Ishmael moves to K10, placing himself and Courage between the Redcap and the princess.

The Redcap, unable to find a straight enough path to charge, moves to J12, with his Scythe raised to strike at Rodimus.

Persephone dismounts, landing in K8. She has her scroll at the ready, and can use it (with the same to hit roll) in the first full round.

Nars quickly downs a potion, blinking in a bit of surprise when the taste of the non-alchoholic beverage hits his system.

Nars would also like to take a 5ft step during the surprise round toward the redcap, ending up at L7.

Don't forget that Felhunter is a Bane weapon, which means it's effective enhancement bonus is 2 higher than normal, 3 in this case. So you have +3 to hit and +3 to damage, not +1 and +1.

Ishmael quickly quaffs the potion and his flesh hardens and twists into a bark-like surface. He tosses the emptied vial aside and views the Redcap's movements with great alarm.

"Look out, Rodimus! Damnation! Percy, get to a safe position!"

The Paladin moves his horse to cover the Sorceress and draws forth his Cold Iron Kukri to try to protect her from attack. He thinks a swift prayer for Rodimus' safety.

OOG: Declaring Dodge on the Redcap

Ishmael's AC: 21 +1 Dodge +1 on Horseback +2 barkskin= 25

Courage's AC is 17. HP is 13.

Feeling safe behind the valiant halfling, Percy concentrates on the scroll and sends her pale green beam towards her foe.

OOC: She will move if necessary to get line of fire. If she doesn't have to, she'll stay behind her horse. At some point her horse will probably leave.

OoC: Waiting to see what the redcap manages to do to Rodimus before deciding on an action. Dammit, it'll make kebab out of him again, what with his already low AC and being flat-footed.
