The Faerie Woods [Knight Otu Judging]

OOC: Not to pry, but I would suggest sending Nars off to find his cold iron bolts and crossbow, which is what he intended to do before checking out.

OK, will do in the AM if Nars doesn't say otherwise by then. Just wanted him to know he was awake. :)

OOC: Right. I'm probably out of line suggesting his actions. I'm just so durned eager to continue, that I don't want to wait. This is a very exciting combat!

Round 13 begins

Initiative
Nars (Prone but unharmed)
Redcap (54 damage) and starting to look hurt
Rodimus (3 damage of 18 hp)
Persephone
Ishmael

Nars (NPC'd) finds himself awake but in the unfortunate position of being prone directly next to the redcap. Acting instinctively, he rolls violently away from the Redcap, attempting to tumble away without leaving himself vulnerable to attack. Tumble d20+6=17 He succeeds, landing prone in H20.

The Redcap, seeing Nars and Rodimus come back to conciousness, decides to eliminate Rodimus before he can stand. Drawing back in a deadly swing, he brings his scythe smashing down on the vulnerable Rodimus. Rodimus, whether by luck or through a growing attunement with the world around him, moves to the side and the scythe crashes down harmlessly into the rubble.

Turning to grab at his assailant, Rodimus fails to get a hold.

Persephone continues to maneuver around invisibly, though it is likely the Redcap hears her orders to Nars.

(Ishmael is up next, then Nars.)

OOG: Ishmael holds the glaive in his left hand, draws a cold iron dart from his belt and drives(1d20+27=41, 1d3+2=3 damage) it into the Redcap.

Dart +27 1d3+2

Ishmael cheers for his awakened companions and gives another elated yell when Rodimus dodges the death-dealing Scythe.

At last, good news for the side of Right! thinks the Knight of the Wooden Sword.

Then he remembers the rapidly receding effects of the divination. Another second passes and his clear view of the Redcap begins to return to the normal chaotic perspective of combat.

With the enemy so far away, there was only one thing he could do without approaching it.

I have to draw it to myself! I must wound him!

Ishmael drives the butt of the Glaive into the ground and holds it with his left hand to steady himself. He then plucks a dart, an arrow-shaped implement wrought of Cold Iron, from his belt and grasps it tightly with his right hand. And with an accuracy honed by an entire childhood of throwing rocks and guided by an ancestry of sorcerous blood, he casts the Cold Iron Dart into the Fey's flesh.

"Leave him be, Fiend! Thine enemy be here, Ishmael of the Wooden Sword!"

Percy

Percy shouts at Rodimus "Get away from him! He's too strong!"

Percy's round 14 actions: [sblock]Percy, now armed w/Gorefoot's kukri, wants to wait and see what happens with Rodimus. If he moves away, she will also. If he is struck down, she will have to try to revive him. For now, she's quite close to the redcap and will pay attention to him, and try to stay out of the way of his scythe.[/sblock]

Round 13 Concludes

Round 14 Begins

Initiative
Nars (Prone but unharmed)
Redcap (57 damage) and starting to look hurt
Rodimus (3 damage of 18 hp)
Persephone
Ishmael

Nars (NPC'd) stands and tries to move toward the crossbow and bolts, which are in H24. He tries to move quickly to that location, which is 20' away, but fails to make progress over the rubble. d20+1=5

Even with the healing turning things about, the Redcap believes itself to be far superior to the mere mortals challenging it. He eagerly charges at Sir Ishmael, but stumbles in the rubble and makes no progress. d20+9=12

Rodimus is up next, and remains within reach of the Redcaps fearsome scythe.

Percy

Round 14: [sblock] Seeing that Rodimus is neither struck down, nor following her suggestions, she changes her focus. She narrows her eyes, points her fingers and says "Gotcha!".

If the Redcap's sling fell to the ground when Nars was taken down, she'll grab it with her mage hand spell. Then move it towards Ishmael's fallen dart. She wants to use the sling to grip the dart. If she can't do this, she'll simply pull the sling to her (15 feet/round). If Nars still has the sling, slipped through his belt or whatever, she'll grab the dart directly, and pull it back to her.[/sblock]

The Redcap swings at Gorefoot while laughing maniachally, and the Scythe catches the side of Gorefoots neck, ripping open his throat and killing him instantly. Natural 20 Confirmed Critical Hit damage 8d4+52=73.

ooc:
Dammit! Monsters shouldn't carry x4 critical weapons, it's too swingy! Sorry, Gorefoot. We'll see what can be done about this after the battle

Holy crap! I love scythes!

*chuckle* Hey, at least he went out with a bang! I'll keep checking the thread, just in case you have something planned Patlin. If Gorefoot truly is the first LEW casualty, that's fine with me, I've got a couple of other character ideas, one of which I'd like to talk to you about introducing through an adventure.

I considered a beheading, but decided I wanted to keep the graphic violence to more of a PG level. I suppose we can call him "Nearly Headless Gorefoot" but he doesn't quite qualify for the Headless Hunt.

Here lies Gorefoot, truly dead.
He lost his temper, then lost his head. :D

*Maniachal DM Laughter* I always have something planned. Assuming the others manage to avoid a TPK, at least. ;)
