D&D 5E The Fall of Blackmoor (IC)

JustinCase

the magical equivalent to the number zero
Din Din (as Gareth Silvertongue)

Having turned his eyes back to their natural color -- natural for Gareth Silvertongue, at least -- Din Din looks at Jacobim curiously. Did they just use a similar magical ability on their attackers?

"We have those bandits on the run. Are we willing to risk more lives to take them out?"

Placing his wand back in the sleeve of his tunic, Din Din then moves closer to Jacobim to have a private conversation. Whispering, he says, "May I enquire where you learned that form of magic?"

Jeremiah

The gnome nods at the idea of pursuing the foes so they aren't surprised by them again later, but first he heads over to where the rifle wielding enemies fell to see if those scrumptious bits of tech were still laying there unprotected, just waiting to be plucked.

One of the rifles is intact. The other split apart, its casing already fragile, when its wielder fell. Ngoya finds 3 gp and 15 sp on the bodies of the riflemen, as well as short swords, daggers, and leather armor. Each of the men bears a tattoo on the back of his neck that Ngoya has seen before. Most orcs display this symbol prominently as a mark of pride, though most no longer know its meaning.

While salvaging arrows (recovering two of them), Kini spots an intact stairway leading down into some sort of basement level of one of the ruined buildings. A strange humming noise can be heard within.

OOC: The rifle is damaged and currently is only able to fire ten shots before needing to be recharged. It only does 1d8 damage, unlike a fully functional laser rifle. Jeremiah could attempt to repair it given time and a sufficiently equipped workshop.

OOC: @pathfinderq1, here we go...

17A had ventured in to the basement level of the ruins above, seeking an energy source, something to repair its damaged...home, for lack of a better term.

What it found was a maze of concrete tunnels with tracks running along most of them. Some tunnels had collapsed, but others ran for miles underneath the ruined metropolis. It had managed to get itself slightly lost in the interconnecting passageways, but now it saw light coming from another access point to the tunnel system. There was a humming noise nearby, possibly a generator, coming from one of the mostly intact vehicles that utilized these tunnels a thousand years ago.

As it neared the entrance, it heard the sounds of a battle above - the firing of energy weapons and the roaring of an ancient motorized vehicle of some sort.

Ngoya collects the arms, armour and coin from the dead bandits and places it all in the wagon, but before she does she takes out her knife and removes the patch tattooed skin from one of the bandits.

Moving over to Jeremiah she hands him the bloody patch, "Does this mean anything?" she asks.

"If some of us decide to head out after the bandits, others will have to stay here to guard the wagon." she looks Gareth and Jacobim meaningfully. "It will require speed and stealth."

Ngoya scoops up the working rifle while Jeremiah was finding out the one he went to first was broken. He still worked to scavenge what bits he could from the non-functional weapon and toss them in with his tinker equipment. When the tattoo is shown to him, Jeremiah is pretty sure he knows what it means, but searches him memory to make sure before announcing anything...

[sblock=Details]1) In terms of GP worth towards materials for his Gnome Tinker ability (to make clockwork items as per PHB page 37), how much can Jeremiah get from the broken rifle?

2) INT:History check to identify the tattoo symbol= +2 INT, +2 Proficiency, and +2 from either Artificers Lore or Blessings of Knowledge doubling his Prof bonus. Rolled by hand (IC is down): got an 11 +6= 17 to hopefully identify the tattoo symbol as a radiation warning... unless it means something else to him in game, of course.[/sblock]

OOC: lol, radioactive orcs! Love it!
BTW, finished stage 1 of getting gallstones taken care of. Got an appointment with a specialist in the surgery dept end of next month. Life goes back to "normal" until then.

"We have those bandits on the run. Are we willing to risk more lives to take them out?"

"Better to take them down while they are injured and prevent them from coming during our sleep and slit our throats! However, we should hunt them carefully... I have a feeling that they are many more of this gang, and they seem to be well organized. I also wouldn't want them to come back with reinforcements."

"If some of us decide to head out after the bandits, others will have to stay here to guard the wagon." she looks Gareth and Jacobim meaningfully. "It will require speed and stealth."

"Wise words my friend." Jacobim points at the recruits "You, you and you, bury our fallen comrades with the respect they are due. We shall sing songs to tell of their bravery when we come back victorious to the city". Pointing at the remaining recruits, he ads " you will be on guard duty; if we do not come back in the next day, head back to the city for you will not be enough to finish the mission." Looking at the PC's, he finally adds "let the rest of us make haste, we have enemies to hunt!"

Placing his wand back in the sleeve of his tunic, Din Din then moves closer to Jacobim to have a private conversation. Whispering, he says, "May I enquire where you learned that form of magic?"

Answering Gareth, Jacobim nods and says in a low voice "Aye, it does seem we follow a similar path. Let us converse more about this at a more opportune time."

OOC: I am assuming Jacobim hasn't spotted 17A yet. Also, sorry for not posting sooner, I was out of the county...
