The humming noise ahead was promising- such sounds often meant power, even some sort of generator might be present. But the sounds of combat, and especially energy weapons, meant that caution was required. There were many hostile or dangerous organisms in the area- and some of them were clever enough to use very dangerous weaponry.

For a few moments, 17A simply waited. Attempts were made to communicate with base, but there was no response. There had not been, lately. Hopefully it was simply something in the tunnels which blocked transmissions, or 17A's own comm unit was in need of maintainence. Still, the quiet hum of static across all comm bands was a bit worrisome- and the occasional transmissions which it HAD received were unusual; broken or incoherent. Base needed energy- that would help.

Moving cautiously, 17A began to move down the tunnel towards the tunnel entrance...

Kini is totally lost in thought. He thought he saw a face in a cloud, and is single-mindedly searching the sky, trying to find it again.

Jacobim hears a buzzing sound coming from somewhere beneath the group. The sound gets louder in short order, enough that everyone can hear it.

Jeremiah is fairly certain he can salvage parts from the broken rifle to bring the other one up to full functionality, likely only needing an energy cell. The symbol is similar to one on containers the dwarves had reused from the mountain fortress they had built their first city in shortly after the Shattering, a place originally known as NORAD. The containers were used to store toxic materials by the dwarves.

Meanwhile...

As 17A approaches the abandoned subway car, the buzzing becomes very much louder. The warforged realizes that the noise is, in fact, organic, a hive of some sort, full of wasps the size of dogs...large dogs.

Din Din nods at Jacobim's words. Now is not the time to discuss magics.

When the buzzing noise comes from somewhere underneath, Din Din yells, "What was that? It's coming from underground, by the sound of it!"

Looking around for a possible cave or hole in the ground, Din Din scans the environment for a way to the odd noise. "Could those bandits be behind this?"

17A froze in place, observing the hive for a moment. Natural creatures, even ones that large, MIGHT not be particularly dangerous- they might treat a metal-sheathed construct as an object, rather than prey. On the other hand, they might be drawn to movement, and creatures of that size could cause damage, perhaps even cripple some of the organic components of a warforged.

Without outside communication or remote reconnaisance, some direct observation was in order. How active was the hive? And how much room was there between the tunnel wall and the hive itself. 17A was not designed for stealth, but simple patience, very slow movement, and the ability to proceed regardless of danger might suffice, if there was room...
