Jeremiah looks up from the broken rifle as everyone starts looking around for the source of the buzzing.
OOC: Perception roll 1d20 (18) +2 = 20.

The gnome slung the broken rifle over his head and shoulder, then readied his crossbow just in case the bugs were bigger than normal.

Ngoya is fairly certain the buzzing is from wasps, though its louder than any wasps she's heard before. They are either very large or very plentiful...or both.

Everyone else hears the buzzing getting louder and angrier. Whatever's down there is clear agitated.

17A realizes in short order that the wasps are coming for him as they start to swarm out of the subway car. There are at least a dozen of them and they appear to be protecting the subway car like a hive.

Jeremiah looks around nervously before asking the others, "Are we just waiting here for whatever that is to come find us, or are we leaving?"

"Those are wasps!" Ngoya answers. "Either very big or lots of them and they are very angry. It would be a good idea not to be here when they make their way up."

Kini looked around at the sound of Ngoya's voice. "Oh, great", he said to himself. "More crawlies. I hope she's not going to cook them up for dinner this time"

'Forward or back?' 17A made a quick assessment of the situation. The massive wasps WERE a definite threat now- it would definitely have been better to have some sort of area effect weapon, or better reconnaisance capabilities, so as to have avoided the hazard entirely. But one fought with what one had, not what one might wish to have. With the assessment complete, 17A shifted zir naginata into a ready position- just in case.

OOC: Is there a tunnel exit visible past the "hive" (if one were willing to run for it)? If not, is there a point farther back down the tunnel that might be easier to hold than open ground?

With naginata in hand, 17A began to move towards the exit of the tunnel. Perhaps the wasps might calm down if their hive was left alone- or perhaps not, but the terrain might be better outside...

OOC: I guess, in 5e terms, this is Action: Disengage, followed by full move towards (and out?) the tunnel exit.

Din Din grins. "We're not afraid of bugs, are we?"

Letting his face return to a more serious experssion, the changeling-in-the-guise-of-Gareth says to Jacobim, "Perhaps we could use those wasps to our advantage. Lead them to attack the bandits or something. Who's the fastest runner among us?"
