The great pumpkin massacre

Well, my garden was like a scene from a Cthulhu game this morning. Trails of slime and decomposing bodies, that sort of thing. Yes, slugs ate up all my pumpkin plants, and then drowned themselves in the beer trap. No pie this year

As a result I have a patch of garden suitable for more vegetables. Any ideas what I can plant now it's late spring?

Doesn't have to be. Anything which is suitable to plant in May really. Preferably edible.

Well ... if you don't mind putting an ocean load of water on the things, you might try zucchini.
