The Halls of Darkness 3.5

Druid would go well with the theme of the character especially if you are a true Lycanthrope and not afflicted( "I was born a vampire." quote- Blade)

So your character could be the great protector of the lands who isn't afraid to show his teeth, or to bite for that matter.

Yeah, I was originally gonna be a ranger, but to avoid duplicates and keep a similar theme, I thought of Druid. Granted, my melee might suffer a wee bit, I can bring other stuff around... pretty sure that's what I'll be doing, unless someone pops in with a similar idea very soon, lol.

The party so far -

Rogue -sneaky
Ranger -martialist
Druid -support/when not howling at the moon

a wizard(or bard maybe lol) to round us out and maybe a meat shield for good measure and we are ready

hey jkason still with us?? did you roll your stats??
I liked the background btw

(is IC up?? i haven't rolled in a long time lol)

Well, meat shield is more or less necessary depending whether or not Jkason's Ranger is melee track or ranged track for the bonus featlines.

Edit: Though... in a few levels, my druid-y type character wouldn't be too soft a target, with his DR in the early levels, though it might be alot less significant by then.

Still here. Posted a link to the stat roll earlier, but they're:

* STR: 17
* DEX: 14
* CON: 13
* INT: 11
* WIS: 13
* CHA: 13

Looking to go melee with the Ranger, though I didn't have the time I thought to work him up yesterday.

Rough draft. Plugging it in here for now, since I suspect it still needs tweaking:

[sblock=Eyes in the Back of your Head]Complete Warrior, p. 98. Prereq Wis 13, BAB +1. Attackers who are flanking you do not receive a +2 attack bonus. You still are considered Flanked, so you can still be Sneak Attacked. This ability does not apply if you are Flat-Footed or deprived of your Dex.[/sblock]

[sblock=Appearance]Titus, like most of his fellows, looks very slapdash and wild. Both his nose and his ears have hoops pierced into them. His hair is short but messy from cutting it himself, his face perpetually covered in thick stubble he never quite shaves. His armor looks like something he found (it is), and his weapons oddly random, especially the large pick he bears. His height and thick muscle make him look older than he is, so where his fellows would be "wild children," he looks much more the wild man.[/sblock]

[sblock=Background]Titus hails from a remote community which, convinced that the absence of the gods and the growing darkness herald an apocalypse, has decided to guard itself through its children. Every child born has undergone intensive training programs instituted by the town elders to fight off the forces of darkness whenever they arrive.

The problem is--probably because of just how remote and off the beaten path their village is--there's been no one to fight except training dummies and each other, and as the children grew into their more aggressive teen years, the town's defenders became one of its biggest problems. They co-opted their parents tools for their weapons (Titus' father finds working much more difficult since he's lost his pick), tied up the local blacksmith in working their armor and fashioning other weapons that caught their fancy. They organized skirmish exercises, fake invasions, geurrilla ambushes, seiges, and in general have turned the town into a mock war zone. There is no invading force, but for all the disruption and damage the young warriors do, there might as well be.

Finally the town had enough, and demanded that its youth settle down, nice and proper like, or leave town. Most of the children did just that. Titus, disgruntled by how easily they all gave in, and still possessed of the idea that he was destined to battle invading hordes of one kind or another, stomped off in a huff, out into the world.[/sblock]

my only comment is Power Attack at first lvl i know you need to take it early for cleave but I personal feel it's better to hit alot of times for small damage than once for some massive dmg.

because you are getting attacked (usually by multiple opponents) and the lvl one opponents should go down in one hit (at least 50% of them) so you aren't using it as much as you would another feat

but if you are thinking taking a couple lvls of fighter than I suggest wait if say at charcter level three you took a lvl of fighter you could get Power attack and cleave both

and love the choice of heavy pick please keep that

I believe the SRD version of the feat predates the Complete Warrior version, but I can't say for sure (certainly that section seems to be written specifically with deities in mind, rather than regular PCs).

The wording seems to be slightly different, at least, in that the SRD version requires you to lose DEX in order to be flanked, but the CWar version explicitly notes that you are always flanked and the only benefit is that opponents don't get their attack bonus. I think the former version is more powerful (which would explain the higher prereqs), then, in that it seems to require a Sneak Attacker to do more than just flank you to sneak attack, but I could just be misreading it.

I think it's a nice feat to show Titus has been training against mobs and hordes, but I have no problem losing it if Erwinfoxjj decides it's overpowered / I need the SRD prereqs.

On the matter of Power Attack, yeah, I was trying to prep Titus for the cleave feat chain. I was debating between that one and Dodge. At 1st level, it may be arguably a better choice to make oneself harder to hit than to be able to hit harder. I'll hold off changing it for now until I find out whether I can keep Eyes in the Back of your Head.

And: I like the pick, too. It seems amusingly 'off' for your standard adventurer, and thus kind of right for Titus, who's a little 'off,' himself. ;)
