The Halls of Darkness 3.5

Erwinfoxjj

First Post
It has been 1,000 years since the last god set foot on Alderfal. It has been 500 years since the gods last spoke to us. It is now believed that they have abandoned us, as we have abandoned them. A dark sun rises in the east, the voices of evil speak in the ears fo paranoid kings and greedy nobles. The small hamlet of Aldefall, an important stop along the Golden Highway, has come under pressure by these dark forces. Corrupt officials and devestating plagues have visited Aldefall. The town has survived and has begun to issue warrants and bounties. A small group of mercenary Caravan guards have come to town and their contract has ended. Now unemployed with no one willing to bring on such new blood, the group has no other choice than to settle down with their few belongings and try to make some money. Can you find out what has devestated this small and quaint town, and possibly uncover something bigger?

#1. Pretty much use whatever, but my limited resources means you may have to explain a bit if you do anything outside of the PHB.

#2. I will create a RG/Game Facts for Characters

So, we can use (basically) whatever resource so long as we run the individual examples by you first?

Note: I'll be gone for a week starting tomorrow, and my internet access will be limited until I return... I am interested, however.

Current concepts:
Either a Human Binder(Tome of Magic Class, basically summoning spirits who share the Binder's soul for a time, granting unusual powers for a time) whose practices resulted in him being chased out of his previous town, or

Something I'd like to try, but am not sure whether it would fit here. I've always liked the idea of a lycanthrope, but haven't had a chance to play one. I'd fairly recently discovered a source which supplies an alternate method of applying the template (here: Savage Progressions: Ghost and Werewolf Template Classes) and was wondering whether or not you'd permit it. It essentially treats the template as a class, allowing the bonuses of the template to be interspersed, so as to avoid unbalancing play.

I understand if you won't, and will simply play a binder if you don't, but I figured I would ask before I attempted.

In anycase, I thought perhaps a lycanthropic character would have much motivation towards ingratiating himself with the populace, providing a service to prevent lynchings and such... and would be an interesting roleplaying angle. He wouldn't be evil or anything, in case you were wondering.

(The website includes other lycanthropic types besides wolves... if you want the others and can't find them, I'd be happy to find those as well.)

I love it! The werewolf can be intertwined perfectly into the minicampaign. Just to make this clear to everbody, NO EVIL Characters. We are trying to save the world. Honestly I have access to PHB 3.5 a few class books like witch and shaman, a race book for Wood Elves, and Monster manual 2. I have all 3 4.0 books, but not to much of 3.5.

Excellent then. I'll work on fiddling with my werewolf-based character over the next week or so then.

Erwin, just realized I have a fun questions: How would you like us to deal with our rolls?

5d6 best 3, 4d6 best three? Just three? When we get each number, do we choose which number goes where?

I understand we are rolling, just want to know what rules you're instating for how we roll and such.
