The Hunted (DM: IronSky, Judge: ???)

GM: I think that leaves Voda Vosa and @DMDanW left to go with Earth and Xander. If they don't post by tomorrow sometime, I'll post for them.

Earth is not good with this sort of stuff, although most things follow the same logical order, and thus, general advices are well suited, at least to clear out the mess. With quick tips and directions, Earth is able to disperse much of the mess.

The Hunted: Day 1, Hour 15, Minute 8

Xander works on coordinating the group, directing searches and helping Melvin figure out how it all fits together.

After a several hours of working together, Melvin and the group put together a map that Melvin says is "90% likely to take you to the right place".

You have a map, all that's left is a ship...

[sblock=Xander's roll]Diplomacy: 1d20+8=18[/sblock]

GM: Skill challenge totals:
Mab: Thievery 28 - 3 points
Neurotic: Insight 18 - 1 point(aid another works differently in this system so I just had you do a regular roll)
Devinihm: Perception 12 - 0 points
Raijin: Arcana 20 - 2 points
Earth: Insight 25 - 3 points
Xander
: Diplomacy 18 - 1 point

Group total: 13 points - Success

Let us take this and hurry. Raijin impulsively gets ready to leave again.

OOC: I may be out of communication for a few days due to family illness, just a head's up

Devinihm, wilden druid

"There should be a captain now without a passenger after last night, yes?" Devinihm offers. "His ship should already be prepared for the voyage. But should we not offer the map to our employer? We are deputized in the city, not on the sea, yes?"

The Hunted: Hour 1, Hour 15, Minute 10

The group is gathered at the front of the library when Lieutenant Raiv arrives, Sergent Rump and her usual entourage close behind her.

"Ah, there you all are. Heard I could find you here. I just wanted to come and thank you for all your hard work on the case. There were significant sums of illicit bounty the cult had gathered so I can afford to reward you quite handsomely for your good work. Good to have those Hellish murderers off the streets."

Her expression is flat, as if daring you to challenge her version of the story. She holds out her hand.

"I'll take your deputy papers back now. We're working on the finishing touches to close up the case, but I'd like to hear your final report before I dismiss you - off the record, of course."

GM: She gives each of you a bag with 150gp in it and takes your deputy papers.

"Now just a moment dearie," Auntie Mab begins to protest, "I don't know that the killer's are off the-," she breaks off as she's handed the bag of gold, and she hesitates a moment, a conflict of emotions evident on her face, before continuing in a loud voice for the benefit of all-present and any non-deaf bystanders, "Ahem. That is, I'm sure the bazzlebaums will trouble the City of Daunton no longer, now that all those they hunted have been killed. They won't likely be back with the likes of us on their tail," she finishes with an overconfident, and obviously feigned wink.

Then, leaning in closer to Lieutenant Raiv, she says in a whisper, "Unofficially dearie, I think the beasts were after some sort of map, to a remote island. It looks like the poor victims had all visited the island on some previous treasure hunt. We've managed to reconstruct part of the map from evidence we found at the crime scenes."

Auntie Mab makes no move to show the Lieutenant said map however, and tries to commit some of the details of said map to memory in case the Lieutenant demands it handed over, but her memory proves far from photographic.

Intelligence (1d20+1=2)

Xander remains fairly silent since the last battle, speaking very little. He keeps his new-found holy symbol in hand, running his fingers over it seemingly lost in thought.

As Lieutenant Raiv informs the group of the situation Xander watches her closely.

Devinihm, wilden druid

Devinihm starts to speak, but as he hears Auntie Mab raise her voice, he decides his life among the mangroves has left him missing some nuance of culture. He looks to the others to see if any of them are as confused as he is, but otherwise says nothing for now.

The Hunted: Day 1, Hour 15, Minute 13

Lt. Raiv nods as Mab cops to her version of the story, then rolls her eyes as Mab mentions the map. "Still believe that same 'the killer passed up thousands of gold so they could get a map' idea of yours?"

She raises her hand. "No, I don't want to even see the map. Look at it this way - you're probably wrong in which case that map you invented is going to take you out to the middle of nowhere and nothing. On the off chance that it actually is valuable and..." she pitches her voice low "...if the killer doesn't already have enough information to make a map of his own, he's probably going to come looking for you or just wait for you at wherever the map leads. No thanks."

"If that's all, I trust you will all enjoy your reward quietly."

She turns to leave and a few minutes later the group is alone again at the library.

GM: The adventure could technically be over as you have completed what you were hired to do, even if it isn't actually complete.

That said, you have a 'treasure map' and know of a captain who might still have a ship waiting...

If anyone wants to bow out, bring in a different character, spend gp, or whatever, now is the time to speak up.

If anyone is a little short of the next level or just short of enough money to buy a new shiny, let me know and I calculate up the xp for the skill challenges(around 150 xp for each of you on a guesstimate) and a month of time xp/gold(can look it up for your level).
