The Hydrae

The 3.5 MM states that pyro- and cryohydras have breath weapons that do 3d6 points of whatever energy damage per head.

Can a hydra combine all these breath weapons into one great, big cone, or does each head select a target (and that means they can double up!)?

I guess the difference is, one massive burst of energy with a single save for half, or many smaller ones, each with its own save for half. The book isn't clear on this subject.

Any opinions? Is there errata?

Thanks!

without checking to read it... it doesn't combine each breath weapon into a single con, per se, but it can train all its heads and breath weapons on a single target - this creates essentially one large irregular cone with a number of starting points. ;)

Oh, my head....

That's kind of what I thought after I made the post, but the book does say "per head," not "each head."

Oh, well, it'll be OK.

just give it a custom made feat

"The hyrda is training in making its heads work together using the breath weapon, So it is able to produce One big attack (not sure thye shoot in cone, and this attack gotta be like the rest) dealing 3d6 point of damage per head involved in this action, only allowing 1 save to half the effect with a Dc 2 higher than normal."

here you go :P
