The Invasion of Mori OOC [3.5][planar][PAUSED]

Debatable. In particular, the DM has access to ultimate cheese all the time, so with or without those spells it's still easy to TPK if you want to. The trick is to go with DMs that don't want to.

A more important issue for all readers is:
If any of you have not determined your max hps, you must do so and finalize your sheet.

We are now in round 3, and it is unacceptable to not have any idea of where your max hit points lie. Thank you.

Sorry, looking at my sheet I don't see it listed. Could you repeat how you want hp determined, please. Snargle has 6d8+1d6+56. I'm fine with you rolling or doing math according to a predetermined formula or rolling myself on invisible castle.

Constructs are immune to all mind affecting effects.....song of fury counts as one(IIRC).

Also if my rough calculations are correct i have to run away now. I think i have 10-20 hp left, and no one seems to have any repair spells(what about the cultist leader?)

Gah! Stupid overconfidence in the face of kobolds. Ok, ok, I'm gonna go find something with a bigger range and more potential for death...

New group working out the kinks of combat coordination. Its good to start off against kobolds instead of angels though for a first fight.

Besides, even if the kobolds overwhelm and drop Snargle, he'll pop up again soon or keep a few of them tied down with having to beat on him continuously to keep him down.

I'd chalk this one up to a new group getting the hang of things rather than overconfidence. IMHO it's not actually going too poorly thus far. And it just so happens that Gabriel is pretty much in the midst of all the casters, none of whom want to rage, and this group's melee line is really mobile (and hence mostly too far.)

V - Roll and report your own max hit points. You don't need to report individual rolls, just the total.

Question - Round two damage is all from the scorpion, as you resisted the fireball (SR).'

Dog Moon - Isn't ghoul gauntlet touch?

Kelteror - Which mage? I assume you mean the closer one?

Question - I suppose in all fairness I should point out that Roillard is unlikely to have repair spells prepared, even if he does have access to any (which you don't know.) This is because he did not know precisely who was coming, just as none of you knew who else would be sent.

I'm only telling you this because it's what his player would tell you, were he a PC, and it seems cruel to leave you dangling.

Of course, none of the characters know what Roillard was or was not told - and he probably plans to keep it that way.

I'm an artificer. I can spontaneously cast Repair Damage infusions.

And as soon as this fight is over, I'm going to get my Dedicated Wright started on either a wand of See Invisibility or a Wand of Glitterdust.

I alsoo am feeling the bite of the beast of level adjustment. The HP and natural armor are ok, but lack of class levels suck. It might be better if I was a pure melee guy, but I tried to improve with persistent's to much. I also think if I die I'll change instead of being undead. Bonded summoner is looking nice right about now, especially with something like a fiendish elf or some such craziness. Were whatever looks cool too, but the need for a cleric kind of cancels that out.

Mmm. The way high-LA races, particularly fiends, work is this: They are usually much more powerful than their ECL against things significantly below their ECL (to the point of being invincible - they can come away totally unharmed thanks to DR and SR coupled with sneakiness and SLAs), and sometimes a little less powerful than their ECL against things at or above their ECL.

I personally think that this is a good thing, as the mechanics reinforce the "fiends enjoy rampaging through hordes of less powerful beings, but don't like fair fights against really powerful opponents" concept. Though it may be a bit frustrating when you first start out, playing a fiend involves a slightly different mindset than playing a more standard PC race. Social interaction and treachery are your tools as much out of necessity as out of disposition. You're also often better suited to them - observe how safe Loriel was when she was scouting, as opposed to how dangerous it would have been for a human scout.

That said, high LA always sucks for casters. It's just a question of deciding if the benefits gained outweigh the levels lost.
