The Invasion of Mori OOC [3.5][planar][PAUSED]

For the record . . . there have been serious arguments in the past over whether or not the ability to modulate CL was an intended use of UMD (as it isn't specified explicitly, but rather inferred from the "emulate a class feature" text.) We will hopefully avoid rehashing that argument here. :p

I'm of the opinion that it does allow you to emulate a higher caster level, but only up to your character level. And yes, it is one of the most-argued thing in all creation, excepting maybe whether or not Precocious Apprentice allows early entry into Mystic Theurge. In any event, emulating higher CLs is a staple of the Stafficer, so for purposes of the Stafficer example, assume it works.

WOTC didn't see it coming, because the artificer by itself isn't really that bad. Once you start adding in all the noncore metamagic feats and items and whatnot, then it realizes its true potential, although that's generally true for anything in this game. It's not so much core is balanced, noncore is unbalanced, but the unrestrained mixing of sources leads to exploitations that no one could have foreseen. Keep in mind that each book is generally written to be used with the core books only.

Very well-put. Feats like Persistent Spell and spells such as Holy Word are broken relative to standard feats and spells either way; the artificer just underscores brokenness with its ability to string together and compound things for added advantage.

Moving on, I will note that the rolling for Round Two resolution has begun.

Holyword/Blasphemy are broken and should never be in the hands of most monsters, or you end up with a TPK. Most monsters have vastly more HD than CR......so its very easy to get a party of the appropriate ECL into the "paralysed and screwed" range......

Debatable. In particular, the DM has access to ultimate cheese all the time, so with or without those spells it's still easy to TPK if you want to. The trick is to go with DMs that don't want to.

A more important issue for all readers is:
If any of you have not determined your max hps, you must do so and finalize your sheet.

We are now in round 3, and it is unacceptable to not have any idea of where your max hit points lie. Thank you.

Guys, is anyone going to take advantage of Gabriel's song of fury? Free rage for whoever wants it! If not, I just burned four uses of my bardic music to no effect, as I'm going to have to switch to something else that will actually help.

Seems like Maug and/or Snargle could. Sadly, Loriel isn't suited for face to face dukin' it out. Succubi are great when they can act subtly...not so much when it's roar and pounce brawlin'.

I'm feeling the LA burn now. I really can't do much against invisible foes. No sneak attacks. No assassinating. If Lor bites it, I think I'm sticking to tieflings. +1, I can take. :)

Note to self: Get way for others to See Invis and get more attack spells. I have too many misc spells.

[Always have problems making spell lists for high level casters]

Edit: Do you want me to post the DC for the spell? Didn't do that the first time and just thought about it now.
