The Jade Frontier (DM: Ukingsken, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

[sblock=Katana]Alright. You hit 72 and miss 44. In 4e, when attacking multiple targets, you roll to hit each one individually and roll one damage roll for all targets.[/sblock]

One of the large kobolds raises its spear at the intruders and hisses menacingly. At once you are practically drowned in a reptilian flood, with even more creatures emerging from the shadows. While none of you are injured too badly, no one escapes unsullied.

[sblock=Status]I forgot to mention: Chey, Miranna, and Brenwar all got an Action Point after the previous encounter. You're probably going to need them.

Initiative:
Firete (24/28)
Cheysuli (18/26, Concealed)
Minions (82 is cursed)
Skirmisher 63
Skirmisher 96
Skirmisher 97 (-5)
Miranna (25/29)
Brenwar (21/29)
Yishim (18/22)

The Skirmishers delay until after the minions.

Minion 29 moves to I1, shifts to J1, and hits Yishim for 4. Minion 42 moves out of the shadows to N6 and charges Firete, hitting for 4. Minion 44 charges Brenwar, hits for 4. Minion 61 moves to I1 and misses Miranna. Minion 62 moves to F4, shifts to F3, and hits Chey for 4. Minion 68 moves to D4, shifts to D3, and shifts to E2. Minion 69 moves to N6 and charges Brenwar, hitting for 4. Minion 82 charges Miranna and hits for 4. Rolls. *Phew*.

Skirmisher 62 moves to M2 and misses Brenwar. Skirmisher 96 charges Chey, and hits for 4. Skirmisher 97 charges Miranna and misses. That could have been much worse.[/sblock]

[sblock=Monster Info]Here's what you know:
Skirmisher
AC 15 | Fort 11 | Reflex 14 | Will 13
MBA: +6 vs AC, 1d8 damage, +1 to hit for each kobold ally adjacent to the target.

Miranna swung her sword around in a wide arc, though the thunder that usually accompanied such a blow was lost under the relentless din of the waterfall. Then she stepped in closer to her compatriots, and a flicker of lightning leapt from her sword outward towards one of the stronger, sneakier kobolds...

OOC:
Standard: Sword Burst +4 vs. REF on minions 82, 29, 61, and Skirmisher 97 (in that order); rolls 24, 9, 11, 7 (crit against minion 82, miss everyone else); die rolls Roll Lookup
Move: Shift to K2 ('down' 1)
Minor: Mark Skirmisher 63 with Aegis of Assault

[sblock=OOC]Crap, we're surrounded. You guys were right about things getting interesting. I have to turn in, but unless things change when I come back I may have to use Verse of Triumph to give us a much needed kick.[/sblock]

OOC: [sblock] I'm betting this is just the first wave, and it is mostly minions- we ought to clear this bunch pretty quick. Save the limited resources (Dailies, AP, Second Wind, etc.) for when things get really interesting- we haven't seen any slingers or casters yet, and no sign of the mysterious 'emissary'. [/sblock]

I don't know what you're talking about.

Also, the earlier you use Verse of Triumph in an encounter, the better it is. You can't "waste" the effect (an aura of +1 to hit and saves).[/sblock]

Brenwar suddenly finding himself in a veritable sea of kobolds swings his hammer at one of the more threatening ones. It, sadly, sees the hammer coming and manages to dodge the glowing weapon with a snicker. As the hammer cracks into the cave floor Brenwar locks eyes with the kobold. He declares, "By Palladys your evil ends today!" as a small ethereal owl flits about the kobold's head.

Shouldn't you mark the skirmisher 97? I'm closer to 63. If you want to keep your mark I can move mine to one of the minions (it isn't that great or anything)

Feel free to drop a thunder wave on me if it results in more kills than you could get otherwise.

[sblock=OOC Busy Today and Brenwar]I'm going to be busy today taking care of the kids, so I might not log back in for 11 hours or so. Brenwar, IC text below is to get you to move to L1 to dodge the thunderwave. I'll still roll an attack roll for you in case you or TwoHeasd decide your turn's over. Great predicting my action - I was debating whether to just ask you or ask forgiveness afterwards :-)[/sblock]Yishim yells to Brenwar Stand beside me and cover your ears! as he unleashes a flood-parting burst of deafening energy. While one of the kobolds manages to slip into an eddy of weaker power, Yishim can hear the bones of his two cousins crushing as they are flung backwards. Even the stronger melee opponent is pushed back into the cavern wall.

Cheysuli Sage

Finding herself surrounded and immediately regretting her decision to leave the safety of the pack and play 'lone wolf', Cheysuli tries to duck and weave through the kobold's painful jabs but only manages to avoid one of the rusty spear heads. Her situation seemingly dire; Chey looks back to her companions and sees them too surrounded.

But just as the fight seems lost, Chey sees Miranna's sword send a kobold flying across the room in two halves, and a surge of power runs through her as another soul returns to nature. Cheysuli's skin and armour become like the stone of the cave floor, for half a second she stands as a statue, before she crumbles to gravel and sand that spills to the floor leaving her assailants without prey.

Silently the fey Tiefling steps out of a stalagmite behind the three kobolds, Cheysuli takes full advantage of their confusion; igniting an eldritch flame in her fist as she quietly wished a thousand tiny painful jabs upon the more battle ready of the three. The bolt of energy cast strange shadows with its eerie green light as it exploded into the kobold's back.

Satisfied at having gotten out of a sticky situation, Chey turns her attention to her beleagered allies, and begins to circle round to help them from the rear.

ooc: IC is down, which I end up feeling a little guilty about...

Despite their losses, the kobolds reform on the adventurers, with a number of them pursuing Chey across the cavern. The lesser creatures don't manage to do much more than cause openings for their superiors, but it is enough. A couple spears find their marks, and Chey and Miranna are grievously injured.

[sblock=Status]Initiative:
Firete (24/28)
Cheysuli (6/26, bloodied, Concealed)
Minions (44 is Divine Challenged)
Skirmisher 63 (-14, bloodied, Aegised)
Skirmisher 96 (-16, bloodied, Cursed)
Skirmisher 97 (-5)
Miranna (10/29, bloodied)
Brenwar (17/29)
Yishim (18/22+3)

Minion 29 crits Miranna, for 4. Minion 44 shifts to L3 and hits Brenwar for 4. Minion 61 moves to M6, shifts to M7, and misses Chey. Minion 62 moves to K4 and charges Chey, missing. Minion 68 charges Miranna and misses.

Skirmisher 63 shifts to M2, shifts to L1, and attacks Miranna, hitting for 11 damage and bloodying her. Skirmisher 96 moves to G7 and charges Chey, hitting for 12 damage and bloodying her as well. Skirmisher 97 misses Miranna. I'm not sure if anyone followed the attack links in my previous post, but FYI, the skirmishers deal +d6 damage when they have CA.
