The Land of the Seven Realms: Opening Moves

Gwyn does a search of the man's body, looking for and removing any valuables, then drags it to the stables where the other bodies are.

She then comes back to the inn, ending her change self and returning to normal form.

The above action is assuming the man is dead :)

Gwyn first checks to see if he is still alive, and will stabilize him with a cure minor wounds if he is. She'll also cast a detect magic on him while checking valuables.

If the man is dead... Smiles thinks "Damn! Completely unprofessional! Crowder wouldn't be happy."

As Gwyn picks up the feet to drag the body, he says to her "No need to attract attention to ourselves by openly dragging a corpse."

Smiles hooks one of the arms over his head, motions for Gwyn to do the same with the other arm, and then acts as if he is carrying a drunk towards the Inn.

After a thorough check of the body, Gwyn takes the man's other arm over her shoulder and walks toward the inn, muttering

dwarven ales... hadda have anodder one dincha

Turik thanks Gwyn for her attempts to heal him. He cleans off his blade and tucks it away. He examines his bloody work and picks up a kukri to carefully note this strange weapon. The rest of the time, he stays quiet, recovering his strength and merely watching the others work.

As Gwyn and Smiles make their way back to the Pink Heron, slowly dragging the dead man between them, they don't meet anyone on the road.

At the Pink Heron, Ian gathers the rest of the group together, at a table in one corner of the common room. He's obviously unsettled, whether by his recent brush with death, or by other matters, is unclear.

"My friends, I thank you for coming to Tredeshan. This city is under grave threat. A group of cultists seems to be behind whatever is going on. This snake cult is taking power in the city. Even the Satrap's court is riddled, it seems, with it's members. Tredeshan is vital to the trade of Kythraen, of course, since it controls access to the Bitter Mire, and thus to Freeport and the Sea of Horrors. But I fear that their plans go far deeper then simple political or economic advantage. We must return to the legation as quickly as possible. It's of vital importance. Vital."

Across the room, the hiresword that Taem brought in sits tied to a chair, glaring uneasily at all around him.

The farmers have retreated to their own table, where they are talking amongst themselves in Karsa.

Gwyn found the following magical items on the dead man.

A tulwar
2 potions of cure moderate wounds
1 potion of invisibility
1 potion of bull's strength
1 potion of cat's grace
magical cloak

In addition the man had 30pp, 40gp, 30 sp in his pouch.

(Unless Gwyn says otherwise) Smiles picks up and puts the magical cloak, a potion of cure moderate wounds, a potion of invisibility, and a potion of cat's grace in his haversack.

OOC: I would suggest that we update our inventories in the Rogue's gallery as they change, perhaps using italics or a different color to denote items have been looted but not officially distributed, however we eventually decide to do so.

Smiles shifts back into true shape and helps Gwyn carry the dead body into the inn's common room. Smiles walks over to the table and addresses everyone in a low voice, "It's a good news bad news situation. Good news is we found him - he won't be reporting back. The bad news is we weren't able to take him alive. But we extracted a bit of information out of him before he died, and to show my good faith I'm going to share what we heard. It seems he was with the Runners and was probably the leader of the four men outside, who were all hired by the merchant and the bodyguard for 100 drachim. If he was the leader, that makes it unlikely that we will be able to get much information out of the one we did manage to take alive, though it is probably worth a try.

The silver lining of the proverbial cloud is that my associate here has the power to make men talk even after they are dead. It's a neat trick, but she won't be able to do it until tomorrow so we need to keep the corpses on hand until then.

In any case, as I was saying before, it seems we have a common interest. My associate and I barely escaped from a similar attack only days ago, and we have reason to believe the Brothers of the Serpent were behind it. As a noted Al-Karan philosopher once said 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.' I think an alliance would benefit all of us. What do you say?"

Taem says to Ian, after he finishes his speech, "I, for one, am with you." He smiles slightly. "Even if I was not inclined to do so, I have accepted payment for just such a service. But your speech makes it seem to me that, had you told me such things before, I would help you regardless."

When the other two arrive again, with a dead man between them, Taem rises quickly but gracefully. He doesn't know whether to be ready to rush to help them or leap again to the defense of his comrades, but he's ready for both. His fears, of course, are allayed.

Taem gives a quick glance to his friends and Ian, and remains silent. He is not paticularly good at reading people, and although the pair seem trustworthy to him, he'll let someone else answer.

Sparrow weighshis options, considering the Man's words.
'Aye. Tis true that there is strength in numbers, I would add my bow to the cause of rooting out this Blight. WHatsay ye ,Tragus?'

Kintys looks at Smiles. "Your associate saved me from near-certain death. Though my contract is with Taelmaron, I would be happy to have the two of you along. I suspect you both have information that will be of use to us, as well."
