Is Rossa engaged with the thugs carrying the box or Iacopo? If she is engaging the thugs can I avoid hitting her with the spell?

Rossa was moving to engage but is not engaged yet. The 10ft. Radius of the spell would not hit a party member so long as nobody moves to engage Iacopo and his men.

Just for clarities sake, Iacapo and his men are BEHIND the mages and on the opposite side of the alleyway, correct?

From my understanding Iacopo and his men are in front of us with Acata, Magdelena and Nicolo between us and them. The robed mages are behind us blocking everyone's exit from the alley.

Vlad is correct: if we go from like Left to Right in a simple diagram:


Robed Figures --- Federigo, Lucien, & Rossa ---- Arcata, Nicolo, The Magdalena --- Iacopo and Thugs


Iacopo and his men are trying to head towards the right to get the hell out of Dodge. Nicolo has moved past you two and struck at the robed men. Arcata and The Magdalena are sorta in the midst of this kerfuffle.
