"The Marvels" - Teaser

The only problem I had with Eternals though was that I was bored out of my mind. I don't know why either. It seemed like it had action sequences and such, but I was just bored through out the movie.
Same. My wife and I joke we'll put it on to finish it when we can't get to sleep.

On paper, it's got everything. In practice, it doesn't seem like even the people in the movie are interested in it.

That's a problem??

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once just won a bunch of Oscars (and I think the three lead characters in that one are all women).

Wierd thing to take issue with. Black Widow had a female lead to it also and that was a Marvel film (actually one of my favorites of the new phase that they put out...Shang Chi was probably the other favorite, with No Way Home rounding out my favorites of the last phase Marvel has had).

So, it's a problem with the actress and not the film itself? I suppose that could make a little sense. I know she riled up a bunch of people with some comments she made on the last Marvel film she was the star in (Captain Marvel), but I haven't heard that she had done anything else that big recently. I would think that time would have buried that dagger perhaps...but then...perhaps not I suppose.
The Marvels got 468,000 dislikes within the first 3 days from release, but She-Hulk earned over 600k dislikes nd both Thor 4 and Quantumania had a fair number of critics too. So it may not be just dislike of the Actress but also a general disatisfation with the MCU product - the so called Superhero fatigue.

And al of them had middling box office vs what came before. Covid xan only get blamed for so.much as several movies since then have broken a billion.

This year seems to be shaping up to be a good year. There's been several well.perforning movies at a time of year you usually get middling results. It's not even summer yet (up north).

2019 was abnormal but might ve a return to typical pre Covid box office.

The Marvels trailer became the most disliked MCU trailer on Youtube within 24 hours of its release.

In addition, while youtube comments are always a cesspool, the proliferation of nasty copypasta comments on this trailer has been something. Source. They include gems like this- “Captain Feminist and the Patriarchy’s stone. What piece of crap!”

Are there people who weren't pleased with Quantumania? Sure! Not everyone is equally happy with MCU Phase Whatever We're In Now.

But this isn't Superhero Fatigue- this is targeted misogynistic trolling.

Indeed. When something is so heavily disliked, prior to its release, you have to wonder if it's not something else they're reacting to. The comments sections usually answer that question.

I think that's rapidly becoming an old excuse.
Go ahead and read the comments that are being posted about the trailer. They are filled with misogyny. And #notallhaters doesn't magically make the massive numbers of them go away, whether you're bored with hearing about them or not.

MCU fatigue seems to be a real thing.
Which has nothing to do with the massive hostile response to this, compared to other MCU trailers released recently. This one gets singled out for special treatment.
