The corpse of Doman convulses and twitches, trying to move away from Austin and his presented symbol.

Stubbs, Maruial, Amirad, Lidia, and Austin watch as the fatally unlucky student scrambles.

Lidia feels a mixture of dread and excitement as she watches the dead scholar scramble away from Austin. This is real adventuring at last. "Which of you gentlemen would like to put him out of his misery?" she says.

"Were this monster not a vile undead, I would hesitate to use it for target practice."
Amirad moves to the fore, pauses briefly to see if anyone else will join the attack and hurls a throwing axe, his bastard sword loose, but ready in his other hand.

The missile thuds into the cowering undead with a disturbing squish.

Austin gives last rites:

Mögest du in Frieden ruhen und nicht wieder aufstehen aus Ihrem wohlverdienten Schlaf. Meine den Toren von Valhalla begrüßen Sie mit offenen Türen. Mein Sie Fest mit der tapfere. Die brave. The ehrenhaft.

May you rest in peace and not rise again from your deserved slumber. My the gates of Valhalla welcome you with open doors. My you feast with the valiant. The brave. The honorable.

"Yes, sah! This is bad news indeed." Sgt. Stubbs Silverhammer draws his sword and raises his shield in order to actively defend the party in case the undead survives and tries a melee attack.

Amirad puts the pathetic student out of his misery, and he flops again on the floor, unmoving.

A scroll case, unlodged from Doman's belt, rolls onto the mine floor.
