The Old School: AD&D 1e

Hulan blanches upon hearing Little Mo's remark. "A week. No, no that just won't do. I've got, no we've got to act quickly and decisively if we want a good job."

Hulan quickly turns to hear the job announcement by Dolun Thrax, while overhearing the magic-user conversation. "No joke. Its that we can't go about wasting any time. Dolun needs a job done and those two need to locate a spell component. We better choose a job before we loose out and are left with cleaning out stables."

Hulan turns to address Amirad and Lidia, "Those two sound like they need a job done tonight and it is in your field of expertise. We can take care of their job, earn a little coin, return and take care of Dolun's mining in the morning. No reason to pay for a room when the open sky is available on such a nice evening."

Hulan looks towards the mages but upon seeing the others accept the job, Hulan quickly joins in. "Yes. No time to waste. How soon will we be departing? What are the job particulars?" He turns, "Maybe someone should check with those mages too. Seems like an easy job, low risk involved."

A human walks in bearing an iron Holy symbol of Solinar, giver of light. His garb is plain but funtional. a mace hangs at his side from a belt hook. He approaches the bar and asks for a dak ale then looks about the room. His attention seems to fix on the two having the argument about some arcane method of crowd control on a safe and harmless basis. He approaches the two, but is prevented from proceding by the armor clad gentleman. He stands listening to the interchange without hiding his interest.

"Traveling eh?", he askes of the stout bald fellow, "Might you have need of a healer to travel with you?"

Answering Hulan, Lidia says "Hulan, I would much rather have a walk in a wood than go down a damp, dark mine. I'll go find out some details and then see if it would be an appropriate job."

Lidia then approaches the professor. "Excuse me sir, I could not help overhearing that you are interested in acquiring something called stinkflower. While I don't recognise the name, I may know it by its proper name, do you happen to know it? Also, do you know where it grows around here. If so, me and some of my companions may be interested in getting some for you."

OOC.
There seems to be some confusion about the time. I thought it was about an hour after dawn.

Mo bustles across the room to join the others around the prosperous dwarf.

"So, people, is it the mines for us then? Certainly sounds like a worthwhile venture."

Turning to Dolun she hesitates briefly before asking "and in addition to knowing what creatures we will be expected to fight, it would be interesting to know what kind of remuneration you are offering, Sir?"

After Dolun Thax leaves, Amirad will pick up the notice Dolun Thrax tore down and look through them for anything interesting. Reading anything interesting out loud.

A sigh passes Hulan as Little Mo asks about pay, "Good. Someone else besides me asked about pay."

"Greetings.Healing is always a skill in need." Upon noticing his holy symbol "Another follower of Solinar. We seem to have a member of you holy warrior caste among our ranks. Are you familiar with Amirand." Hulan motions towards Amirand.

"Amirad? Cousin Amirad? yes , i know him from my youth! "

He looks to the armored Paladin and says smiling, "miltary branch. it suits you very well, sir.I was not sure it was you."

The priest holds his hand out for a handshake to Amirad

]ooc[ i rolled 5' 9" and 207 lbs. I'm a chunker! ]/ooc[

Amirad eagerly grasps your hand giving you a firm shake an a clap across the back. "Cousin it's been years! I almost did not recognize you! You look great, service to Solinar suits you! May you bring glory and honour to him and your family!"

"You must join me on this venture if it proves and honorable one. I would love to have someone knowledgeable about Solinar to converse with and we have many other matters to discuss. I trust your mother is well?"

Amirad, Zhantain, Hulan, Kel, and Mo gather around Dolun Thrax to listen in.

"The mine's only about a half-day's travel from here. It's the strangest thing, though. It's been overrun with undead. Skeletons took out a few of the miners, and I haven't let anyone back in, since. I can offer each of you 2 platinum now, another 4 platinum on completion, and you can keep anything else you find down there. It's a diamond mine, there's bound to be something you'll like in there."

Lidia speaks with the professor.

"Oh, hello, yes, I'm Prof. Raffles, Arnoldi Raffles. Very good to meet you, very good indeed. The stinkflower, also known as a corpse flower, is a gigantic bloom that has the look and smell of rotting meat. They are quite rare in this part of the world, but I do believe I have located a microclimate in the hills nearby that would be able to support such a specimen! I would be more than willing to hire a research assistant who would be willing to help me complete a test run of my spell. I am known for funding my assistants well, you know. A stipend of 200 gold coins would not be out of the question."

Vesmer stands, planning to join the dwarf's crew, but Rack grabs his shoulder and pulls him back.

"Clearing out mines are good, but... the south side dig looks promising. We gotta take a look," the half-orc says.

He pops a breakfast sausage in his maw and ushers his party back out of the tavern.
