The Old School: AD&D 1e

Once Lidia gets to the front, she will move out of the tunnel and start readying her cudgel and shield. She will keep the torch in her shield hand hoping that its flame will deter the rats. Once she has her equipment in order she will lay about any rat that comes near her.

Amirad and Zhantain are bit, but the rats fail to bite Austin, Kel, and Mo.

What will you do now?

Austin will not be discouraged, he takes another swing with his 'bat' at a rat!

1d20=10

I hit ac 10. i doubt the rats are that easy, but here is damage any way:
mace, footman's 2-7 dam

1d6+1=4

swing and a ... -we will back right after this message from our sponsor-

Hulan stays towards the rear, holding the lantern aloft, carefully looking back over his shoulder to see if anything is sneaking up on them. "I have got our rear covered."

Amirad and Austin miss.
Lidia only manages a weak swipe from a poor position, and does no damage. 1d20=12 (AC 8)
Mo similarly fails to connect. 1d20=12 (AC 8)
Hulan holds back, confirming that there is nothing else down the corridor behind them.

(NPC)
Kel and Zhantain swing against their rats.
1d20=19, 1d20=7
Kel hits, Zhantain misses.
1d8=3
Kel strikes down another rat.
Zhantain steps back into the hallway, allowing Lidia room to come forward.

The four remaining rats attack Amirad, Austin, Mo, and Lidia:

1d20=5, 1d20=2, 1d20=3, 1d20=4

They score no hits.

What do you do?

Kel attempts to carefully skirt around the rats to flank one of them with Mo, then swings his longsword at the scurrying vermin.

Attack, Damage (1d20=10, 1d8=7)

OOC: Sorry about missing that round... I'm used to initiative order being spelled out for each combatant. All part of trying the older edition! :)

"Try to bite me will you. We'll see about that." Lidia takes a whack at the rat that tried to bite her.

Austin is glad to not get bitten by the rats, but knows that he has to get rid of the toothy menace to garentee that he remains un-bitten

Fore! (wait, that game has not been invented yet. sorry all)

whack!
1d20=14

in case that is a hit:
Squish! 1d6+1=5

Amirad boldly manuevers between two rats. Amirad attacks are skilled, both sword and axe sink into rat flesh!
"Haha! Your teeth will tear flesh no more!"

[sblock]
Bastard sword attack; Damage (1d20=14, 1d8=3)

Ah yes I'm immune to disease, sweet. I was a little worried. You know rat bites and all. [/sblock]

"Come on lads and lasses. They're only rats after all. What if they'd been...goblins!"

Mo giggles inanely at her own joke but inwardly winces. "That really is a stiupid habit! I must stop it!" She promises herself firmly, meanwhile swinging at the nearest rat.
