D&D 3.x The Real Question for 3e Grognards

But I have no desire for any more 3e crunch. If Paizo stayed with 3e and published scenarios with no new 3e crunch at all, I would consider staying a subscriber. But I consider all new 3e crunch to be wasted page count. I won't pay a dime for it after the release of 4e.

What do you mean by "new crunch"?

I like Paizo's stuff, but currently have no interest in their 3.5 offerings. I finished up my current Runelord subscription and am waiting to see if they go to 4e. If they do, I'll probably pick up their Pathfinder campaign setting and their 4e modules.

If they don't go to 4e then I wish them well since I have always had a good experience with all of their staff and their products are top notch. And if they put out Game Mastery products that are 4e compatible, I will pick those up. But most of my money will go to 4e publishers.

Sure they're smaller than WotC. That's a given. And sure there are other RPGs that are bigger. WoD might be one of them, or any of WW games. We're not talking huge numbers here, but I'm sure they hold a good sway with people's decisions.

You said that Paizo was the company that could keep people away from 4e, which is what I was disputing primarily. Hell, White Wolf can't keep people away from D&D and 4e, as the second largest market-share holder in the industry. Paizo being an order of magnitude smaller than White Wolf in terms of company size, market penetration (multiple markets, since they also produce board games and card games), and all that tells me that only an act of God can make them have a real effect on 4e.

She's probably still bitter about that sleight of hand James Jacobs pulled on the drawing, so it's probably best not to mention it and keep calling her "Erik."
OK, I'll keep it a secret then ;):).

Believe it or not, but I actually think the atmosphere is switching for the better around these forums, now that more info is being released. Look back over some of the posts from mid-December to mid-January, and things were actually getting really bad; they seem to have slacked off more lately, and people are being a little more civil in their disagreements, or at least learning to live with one another. This will probably keep fluctuating for quite a while, even after the June release, as after June people will actually have facts to put behind their happiness or discontent.

Anyway, I really don't worry about where the 3e fans will find their niche, because there will be no lack of places to congregate -- most of which will be the same places they are now.

See what happens when I'm not around?

Have things gotten better because everyone has become more tolerant, or because those who don't agree with 4E are deciding to spend there time elsewhere? As you say, things will continue to change over the next few months. My guess is that they probably won't level out until August or September.
