Characters more powerful from the start...

Demonic characters playable under the core rules...

Special points to change die rolls...

Epic level play assumed in the system...

Is it just me, or is 4th Edition starting to sound a lot like THIS game:

Not at all, no. Honestly, that doesn't even make sense, and is just inflamatory. Many, many games allow you to infleunce die rolls. More than a few have outsider-types as PC-playable races.

D&D has had some level of 'epic' play in all versions but 1E and 2E; indeed much greater degrees of epic play were assumed in Basic D&D.

1st level D&D characters being too fragile has long been a complaint of the game, ever since 1E. It is a common house rule to start at second level, at least. And honestly, we still have no idea how much stronger 4E 1st level PC's will be. A hit die or two ain't a lot when you're a Wizard.

I think the only similarity may be that the 4e design team did probably at some point sit down and ask the question, "What do 14 year olds want in a game?"

So point taken, but I'm fairly sure that the comparison is intended to be humerous, or inflammatory, or both.

But, as long as we are being inflammatory...

Senzar is far and away not the worst possibility.

The game could be turning into RIFTS. Senzar is a step up in creativity and rules elegance.
