The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

"Better start singing elf, or we'll let Vagan and the Guard get it out of you. What is the ornament? Why is it important?", The gnome leans back and lights his pipe, " We got all night to work this out.'

OOC: That's why they have a will save :D It's nice to get to use the spells though

"Well, first of all", began the elf, "I offered 5,000 Crowns for the safe return of the object, payable in Dragons." Brimbor took on an air of superiority. "One must be careful of such things, next you'll be claiming that I offered a reward of 50,000 Crowns, or some nonsense. Now, the item, as I mentioned before, is a black orb, about..." (and here the elf paused, glancing at his hands, tied up so as to be useless for gesturing) "...well, small enough to fit in my lap. It is carved with images of griffons, quite a fine piece of work, really. It is important simply because it is worth a lot of money, which you might have deduced from the size of the reward." Brimbor glanced around expectantly. "Now, could you please let me out of these damnable ropes? I doubt even this Vagan fellow, if he's with the city guard, would be such a beast with one in his care!"

"That's a start. Now tell us about Wilbur and Kamdar", the gnome trickster continues to question the elf." You're working your way towards getting out of those ropes. While you're at it, what do you know about Archer's wife?"

Devlin listens to Enialis while watching the elf. Once the story is told Devlin sheaths his rapier and picks up the elf's crossbow. "We won't be needing Vagan, gentlemen. Enialis, would you be so kind as to go keep watch, make sure nobody approaches the office?"

ooc: Appraise check on the crossbow = 15. I wanna see if it's masterwork.

A look of surprise crossed Jobe's face. "You know about them?", he exclaimed. Then his features grew more stern as he added with distaste, "Ah. Of course. Your magic. Well, if you must know, Kamdar is a business associate of mine. And Wilbur is his 'boy'. They would also like to retrieve the orb. And what else? I told you, I know nothing about Archer save what they put on the posters. And I know even less about his wife...I didn't even know he had a wife. Now would you please let me out of this chair?" It was apparent that the elf's exasperation was growing.

While Ryland gave their visitor the third degree, Devlin picked up his crossbow and examined it. Devlin had heard of such one-handed crossbows, but he had never handled one before. He recalled once that a man had bragged that he wouldn't part with one for a hundred gold pieces...of course, that man didn't have one at the time. Devlin was sure of one thing...although this example was intricately carved, it seemed long on decoration and short on quality workmanship...as if the maker had sought to cover up his shortcomings.

I am not sure about everyone else but I believe we may have gotten what is needed out of this man. Perhaps it is possible to let him go. We have his weapons so he won't be able to attack us.

what do you think?

"Let him go? Hehehe, I don't think so. At least, not yet." Devlin says as he loads the crossbow.

He turns to the elf, crossbow pointed casually at Jobe's nether regions. "You really should've cooperated with my companions. They're much more...lenient...than I am. Now I want you to explain to me why you came here. Please."

ooc: I can't get Invisible Castle to work for me right now, would you mind making the Intimidate check for me, El Jefe?

Jobe squirmed in his bonds, clearly uncomfortable with the situation. "Please, sir, there's no need for that", he begged. "I came here to recover a lost item, nothing more. Is it the money? I don't know if I can get any more than that, but if you let me go, I promise I will try. Please?"

Devlin continues the conversation. "And this associate of yours, Kamdar, why would you assume he is the one who killed Flodal Thursby?"
