Devlin stepped in front of the door, and Brimbor waited for an opening to attack again. Whether it was due to luck or skill Devlin did not know, but his blow would have surely connected had Devlin not been putting his all into defending himself. The sap smacked against the blade, and for a moment Devlin thought he would be rewarded with a chagrined elf holding a leather bag with lead beads pouring out through the hole Devlin's rapier had made. Ryland stirred when shaken, then quickly fell back asleep. Devlin carried his little buddy back to their room, which was just down the hall. Ryland seemed half conscious, surely it was just a matter of time until he came around.
