The owner of the Tower Inn inquired if they would be needing the room for another evening as the pair crossed the foyer of his establishment, and they gave their answer. Stepping out, they were greeted by a dropping sun and air that Enialis could have told them was unseasonably crisp for the port city. A warm breeze blew from the southeast as they made their way to the clerk district where they found the door at the top of the stairs unlocked. As Devlin cautiously opened the door, he was greeted by one very worried Eppy.
"Oh, there you two are", she said with some relief in her voice. "I was wondering where you'd gotten off to. Miss Oshally said she be on her way to my apartment, but when Mrs. Finster, my neighbor stopped by to chat, she said that nobody had been to my room all day. You don't think something happened to Miss Oshally, do you?", the amiable secretary inquired, a hint of worry creeping back into her voice. She paused, then her expression changed. "You don't mind if I stay late tonight, do you? Sometimes I did that when Mr. Archer was out working late on things. You know, just in case he had to stop by the office for something."
