The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

ooc: I want to track down the alchemist and try to get some poison. Not fatal poison, but the kind that knocks you out. Just in case Jobe & Kamdar get frisky in the meeting.

OoC: Well, you can ask Joe. He'd probably raise an eyebrow at you and tell you you could get in trouble for that.

You could try the Street of Merchants. There are definitely alchemists there, although it's not a given that any one of them would sell you a knockout drug.

You could try looking for underworld contacts...well, you get the picture.

"You got a plan, Devlin. We sure could use one", Ryland says.

oOC: We should probably keep pushing. Feels like we're close.

ooc: Sorry for the delay, my brain's been a little frazzled lately. Devlin will suggest going to the Street of Merchants and trying to locate an alchemist there.

OoC: S'ok.

IC: The gnome and the human wandered the Street of Merchants until they came to the establishment of S. Boortman, Apothecary, on the advice of a passer-by who claimed he was the most reputable chemist and alchemist in Orussus.

Devlin looks around the shop for a few moments before approaching the proprietor.

"Excuse me good sir, I was told to seek your assistance in a matter most important to me. My friend and I have to make a short journey via ship and we will be taking our steeds with us. Alas, the creatures do not take to water travel at all. We were told you might be able to provide a solution, something that would render the poor animals unconsious, or at least heavily sedated, for the trip. Nothing very strong, mind you, the trip is less than two days."

Mr. Boortman sighed and shook his head. "I'm sorry, sir, I doubt I can help you. There are a few things that I have, that if misused, could put a person into a stupor. But I won't sell those to anyone who doesn't have a letter of recommendation from someone I trust, like a member of the Council or some such. And you'd need a double dose for each animal, and unless these are rare animals of surpassing value, you'd be better off leaving them and buying new ones at your destination, it'd be that expensive. And finally, even if I could sell it to you, and you could afford it (I'm not saying you can't, mind you), and you didn't kill your animals by misdosing them, it woud only last a few hours, and you'd need to dose them all over again and again."

The man thought for a moment, his eyes focused far away. "You probably need the services of a skilled animal wrangler, not an alchemist. Or a wizard, if you can afford one. And, mind you, this isn't my expertise, but if you were to put strong wine in their drink, it might settle 'em down. That's just a thought, I wouldn't put my reputation on it."

Devlin thanks the man for his advice and escorts Ryland back out into the street. "Well, legitimate means didn't work out, so what do you say about a little trip to St. Arnolds?"
