The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

Devlin thanks the man for his advice and escorts Ryland back out into the street. "Well, legitimate means didn't work out, so what do you say about a little trip to St. Arnolds?"

"Lead on", Ryland says with a wave of his hand. Ryland wonders what the young human is up to now, but is willing to follow the clever man.

It was perhaps a couple of hours past mid-day when Devlin and his diminuative partner strolled into St. Arnold's. Devlin observed that it was much less raucous than it was in the evening, at least by the standards of his previous visits. The blue plate special, plain as it was, beckoned to them, seeing as how they hadn't eaten since breakfast.

Devlin orders the blue plate special and lets his eyes wander over the crowd.

ooc: how crowded is it, and what type of people are in here?

Ryland packs the bowl of his pipe, lights it, takes a deep draw, and exhales with deep satisfaction. He looks at Devlin, wondering what the young man has planned.
OOC: How are we going to get to the bottom of this?

OoC: The lunch crowd has largely cleared out. There are perhaps 4 or 5 other patrons here, split between the bar and one of the tables.

The denizens of the seedy bar at this hour seem somewhat disreputable; either sailors with too much coin and too litte work, or those who prey on them.

Devlin waits for the bartender to wander near. "Say bub, I'm looking for a little something, something that I can't get at the Street of Merchants if you get my meanin'. You know anyone I could speak to about it?"

The bartender looked the pair over, recognition appearing in his eyes. "Nawww, I dunno", he said slowly. "I might know somebody, but my memory isn't so good. You know..."

"I'd need to speak to this individual today, if possible."
The bartender took a close look at the coin. "Yeah, that's a mighty fine likeness on the front of that coin...reminds me of an individual. Mind if I have a close look at it? Might jog my memory..." He slipped the coin out from Devlin's forefinger with his thumb and forefinger, and held it up to his eye. "Nope, doesn't look like him that close. Bellam Spont. A little short, goatee, bit of a hunchback. You meet his eye, you'll know it's him. Nope doesn't look like this at all." The man slid the coin into his purse, "forgetting" that it was really Devlin's. "Should be around in an hour or two. Don't know what a body would be looking for, but he might have it."

"Much oblidged."

Devlin looks around the room again before turning to Ryland. "You don't have any problem with us using their own tactics on Jobe and Kamdar, do you?"
