The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

Some time after dawn, Devlin rose and made ready to face the day. He knocked on Ryland's door, and found the gnome pouring over some magical texts, preparing spells for the day. After a short wait, the two returned to the common room for the Tower's complimentary breakfast. The usual crowd of merchants was there, but the pair noticed that the room was much more peaceful with Wilbur's absence. A new day awaited.

Devlin digs into the breakfast fare with gusto, addressing his companion in between mouthfuls. "So, where should we start today, with Jobe or Kamdar?"

"I'd like to feel out Kamdar. Do you have a plan? Should have a conversation with him? We could try a little diplomacy, and if that doesn't work go for some hypnotism. See what he knows about the orb, and what he thinks its worth to him.", Ryland suggests, a grin on his face.

As the erstwhile adventurers planned their day over breakfast and wondered what was keeping Enialis so long, a boy entered the Tower Inn and spoke to the innkeeper, who pointed out Devlin and Ryland. The lad approached, bowed, and spoke: "Beg your pardon sirs, but I have a message from Miss Eppy Perrin for Mr.'s Magruder, McVayne, and Ryland. If you can spare a penny for my service, 'twould be my pleasure to give it to you." The youth held out his palm expectantly; apparently this wasn't the first time he'd aumented his income running messages for his betters.[sblock=Message for 1 cp: ]The paper is creased but not sealed, and reads:

"Please come at your earliest convenience. Have received message from a Mr. Fatwon. Also Miss Oshally is here, and she urgently requests your presence."

The message is simply signed, "Eppy".[/sblock]

"I think we should leave. I'll go upstairs and check on Enialis.', Ryalnd says before heading upstairs.

OOC:If Ryland doesn't see Enialis he will leave a message with the Innkeeper before leaving for their destination.

Ryland knocks on Enialis's door, only to be answered by a weak, "Wait a minute...". When the door finally opens, Ryland finds Enialis to be ashen-faced and shaken. "I've been throwing up all night", he explains. "I think it was something I ate or something. I should be fine in a day or two...you go on without me." Ryland assured the young calvaryman that he would check back in to keep him up to date, then departed to give Devlin the news.

"Enialis is sick. Looks like the flu. Let's go.", Rylands says to Devlin as he heads for the door.

While Ryland checks on Enialis, Devlin returns to his room to prepare for the day. After outfitting himself appropriately (armor & rapier, no crossbow), he returns to the common room to await Ryland. After hearing about Enialis his mood gets a little sour. "I hope diplomacy will be enough today, Enialis is our muscle."

The pair then head out for the office.

ooc: Can Devlin make an Appraise or Forgery check to see if the note is genuinely from Eppy?

Devlin examined the note carefully, suspicious that someone was just trying to lure him out of the Tower Inn. He'd seen Eppy's signature on many of Archer's papers, and as far as he could tell, this was either the real thing or a better fake than he could spot.

The sun was up but the day still young as the pair strolled through the streets to the office. It was humid, the day was a little warmer than the day before. A good night's sleep had worked wonders...both Devlin and Ryland felt better rested than they had for days.

Upon climbing the creaking stairs to the office, Devlin was greeted by Eppy, who proclaimed, "So there you guys are! Are you both Ok? Did you get my message?" She went on to say that she had received a message early in the morning...the messenger had been waiting when she opened up the office...from a Mr. Fatwon. The message wasn't sealed, so she read it, and she read it again when Devlin and Ryland arrived.

"Mr.'s Devlin, Enialis, and Ryland: I understand the young man met with some misfortune last night. I trust the inconvenience was not too great. Please feel free to call on me at the Tower Inn. Signed, K. Fatwon."

Eppy also informed the pair that Brigit was waiting for them in the inner office.
