The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

Ryland pauses to look at Eppy, "Thanks Eppy, Everythings alright with you. Noone has harrassed you." He waits for the reply and heads up to talk with their mysterious client.

Brigit was, as the pair was becoming used to seeing her, distraught. She greeted them with, "You are a god-send!" Devlin asked her why the visit, and she told her tale of woe: "Somebody's been in my room. It's all upside down, every which way." When pressed for details, she explained that she went downstairs to the common room for a late dinner, and had returned to find her room ransacked. She spent the night huddled in the common room, too afraid to tell the management about what happened, and was waiting at the office door soon after dawn when Eppy arrived to open up.

"I can vouch for that", declared Eppy as she leaned against the doorsill to the inner office. "It's my woman's intuition...she's all right." Brigit refused to return to the Coronet for the time being, and Eppy offered to let her stay at her place for safekeeping. Brigit accepted, saying: "That's a wonderful idea, just what I need. Eppy, can you tell me how to get to your apartment?"

"Brigit, who else is involved in this? Where is the ornament? We're missing something here, and my guess is you know what it is. It's time to tell us more", the little gnome says, willing to play bad cop to Devlin's good cop.

Ryland's outburst hung awkwardly in the air, coming as it did after the kind words the women had for each other. Everyone paused for a moment. Finally, Brigit broke the spell, turning to Eppy and asking, "Eppy, could you leave us alone for a few minutes? Personal business, you know."

"Sure, no problem", Eppy gracefully replied as she closed the door to the inner office and returned to her desk.

"I haven't got it", Brigit confessed, "but I promise that I'll have it back in about a week from where Flodal hid it." She paused while Devlin and Ryland let that sink in. "I'm willing to sell it because I'm afraid. After what happened to Flodal, I'm afraid to touch it except to turn it over to somebody else."

Ryland sticks to his guns, waiting to hear what Devlin has to say.

OOC: Thought Eppie was out of the room, but Ryland sick of the lies anyway.

OoC: She was, at all times. The door was open when Brigit was telling you about the break-in, and Eppy came over and leaned against the doorsill. From the way they acted toward each other, you get the hint that they spoke at some length before you arrived, and that Eppy knew about the break-in before you did.

Devlin quietly absorbs everything he's been told so far. Finally he speaks up. "Two men have already been killed over that orb this week, and several others have come close. If you know where it is, tell us now. We'll retrieve it. As for who you want to sell it to, that's up to you. It appears as if both Kamdar Fatwon and Jobe Brimbor would be willing buyers."

Dungannon said:

Brigit shook her head. "You can't", she said plainly. "If it was that easy, I'd have already done that. But I can get it in a few days. And as soon as I get it, I'd like to get rid of it."
Dungannon said:

Upon hearing that, Brigit became frightened and upset. "Oh, why does it always have to be them? I'd let them have it, so long as I knew I could get away from them for good without being cheated, robbed, or worse. And I know they're capable of worse, much worse. Oh, I'm so scared. Please, please help me get rid of this thing. I'll pay you...just get me a fair price and let me get out with my life!"

Devlin presses Brigit. "Why do you have to wait a few days? Why can't we go get it now? And what is so damned special about this thing that people want to kill for it?"

Brigit looked at Devlin as if he was deliberately trying to be thick. "Because it's not here in Orussus", she replied.
Dungannon said:

Brigit sighed. "Because it's worth a lot of money...oh, I don't know why it is, just that it is, and that people are willing to pay a lot of money for it. You'd have to ask Fatwon about that, he's the one that knows all about its history and all that. For all I know or care, it's just a big heavy lump of black gold."
