The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

Dungannon said:
"We represent Miss O'Shally in certain matters, but not all. Is she the reason you requested this meeting?"
Fatwon spoke with a precision that someone like Wilbur was utterly incapable of. "In certain matters? Would these be the same matters that you discussed with Jobe Brimbor in your offices?"

Ryland, seeing that Devlin is going to pass up the drink and therefore both won't be poisoned, takes the drink.
Ryland found that Fatwon's hooch was most agreeable, at least as good as the top shelf stuff served downstairs, and maybe better. The only effect of consumption that he noticed was the usual amount of intoxication and the satisfaction that came from drinking fine spirits on someone else's Shields.

OOC2: Sense motive during the conversation.
Ryland decided that Fatwon was playing his cards quite close to the vest. Having heard little that could be factually false as opposed to a mere error of judgement, Ryland decided that if Fatwon was prone to falsehod, he was merely warming up and hadn't delivered a good whopper yet. Of course, he could actually be telling the truth.

"Perhaps we should get right to business.First, what so you want from us? Second, How much are you willing to pay?", the gnome said, hoping to facilitate the conversation with the fat half-orc.

"Miss O'Shally is in possession of an object she wishes to not be in possession of. She has enlisted our assistance in finding a buyer for said object." Devlin gives Ryland a glance and a sly smile before continuing. "Did you wish to see us about acquiring that object, or did you wish to discuss your possible involvement in the murder of our former employer?"

The enormous tusker started warming to the little gnome. "Ah, now that's more like it. I distrust a close-mouthed man. He generally picks the wrong time to talk and says the wrong things." He offered Ryland some pipe-weed from a box. "Talking's something you can't do judiciously unless you stay in practice. Now sir, we'll talk if you like. I'll tell you right out - I'm one who likes talking to one who likes to talk."

Here, Devlin jumped back in to the conversation.

Fatwon frowned at Devlin's accusation. "Now, now, there's no need for unpleasantness at this point." Relaxing a bit, he continued. "Very well, you wish talk about the orb, and that we will. Mr. Magruder, have you any conception of how much money can be got for that black sphere?"

Ryland gives Devlin an almost imperceptible nod, indicating its Devlin's lead again.

Devlin smiles at Kamdar. "Well sir, as we haven't actually seen it, no. We must rely on the words of others in that matter for the time being but, given what we've heard it seems to be worth quite a lot. I'm very eager to see it myself, to tell the truth."

"Well, sir, if I told you-", Kamdar interrupted, "if I told you half, you'd call me a liar."

Fatwon leaned back and chuckled. "You mean you don't know what the orb is?", he asked.

Ryland leans forward, breaking into the conversation again, "We know what it looks like. We know people are dead over it. Furthermore, we can deliver it within the week. How much are you willing to pay? There are obviously more interested buyers than yourself, so don't try to underbid." He leans back in his chair, awaiting the fat half-orc's response.

Fatwon had the look of a cat about to devour a mouse. "She didn't tell you what it is? Brimbor didn't either?", he asked with an air of anticipation.
