The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

As Ryland stood, he quickly became aware that all wasn't right with the world. He glanced over at Devlin, who began having the same problem. The room lurched, and the floor and ceiling seemed to want to trade places.

OoC #1: I'll need Fortitude saves from each of you.
ooc: Damn. I knew I shouldn't have had a drink. Fort save = 22. Hopefully that's good enough to stay conscious.

Both Devlin and Ryland were able to shake off the initial effects of the power drug coursing through their systems, although they both felt much weaker as a result. Ryland moved to cast a spell, but the effort proved too much as he sank deep into the couch, his eyes crossing as he lost contact with the outer world. Devlin lurched but kept his feet as the drug took effect, but he knew that until the poison was gone from his system, he wouldn't be half the man he usually was in a fight. Moving his great bulk with terrifying speed, Kamdar was on Devlin with a sap, and Jobe displayed a similar weapon.[sblock=OoC: ]Both successfully saved vs. unconsciousness, but took considerable subdual damage (think of it as a spell where you take half damage on a successful save). Both take 14 hp in non-lethal damage, I believe that puts Ryland down for now. Devlin's Uncanny Dodge allows him to react this round as normal.

Initiative:
Kamdar 21
Jobe 11
Devlin ??[/sblock]

ooc: Devlin's initiative = 18. Looks like Kamdar goes first.
Kamdar swung his sap at the base of Devlin's skull, but the trouble-fixer took advantage of his weakened condition to bend forward at the waist. What would have been a solid blow just grazed the back of his head; still it would have staggered a lesser man. Devlin saw stars but stayed on his feet...he saw Brimbor approaching from the other side out of the corner of his eye.[sblock=OoC: ]Kamdar barely connects for 3 hp of non-lethal damage. Had he connected solidly, it would have been lights out.

Devlin should be at 5/23 hp, all non-lethal damage, of course.[/sblock]

ooc: which direction is the door? And shouldn't Devlin be at 6/23 hp? 23-14=9, 9-3=6.
Ooc: Devlin could easily bolt for the door (and would make it in one round), although that would provoke AoO from both Kamdar and Jobe.

And it is 6 hp. Remind me to sign up for the remedial subtraction course that comes after the one on matix algebra. :heh:

Devlin draws his rapier and holds it out before him. "You're making a big mistake, boys. You'll never get the orb this way." The rogue continues to weave a defensive pattern with his blade as he backs up to the door.

ooc: draw weapon as a free action, total defense as a standard action (+4 to AC), and 5' step as a misc. action so there's no AoO from Kamdar.

Kamdar's only reply was a sickening grin. Brimbor moved to flank the rogue, but his attempt with the sap was even more clumsy than Wilbur's efforts would have been. As Devlin stepped toward the door, Kamdar kept pace with him, swinging his sap furiously but having no more luck than the elf.[sblock=Ooc: ]That ends round 1 and Fatwon's action in Round 2. Devlin is now only 10' from the door (adjacent to the square that is adjacent to the door), and is flanked by his opponents.[/sblock]
