the term CLASS LEVEL

I've been reading a lot of different Prcs lately and I keep coming across the phrase "class leve". For the longest time I've believe that this ment the level you have of the corisponding Prc, but after reading the Dracolexi from Races of Dragon I am slightly confused. And here is why; on page 80 while discussing the Draconic Words class feature the following two passages are stated:
Ocuir: This Draconic word, meaning "see," grants the target a competence bonus on Search checks and Spot checks equal to your class level for 1 hour.
Osvith: This Draconic word, meaning "flee" in Common, renders its target shaken for 1d4 rounds. If the target has more Hit Dice equal to or less than your dracolexi level, it is frightened instead. Will negates.
Is this just another expamle of Wizards lack of proper grammer and sentce structure or have I been interperting he phrase "class leve" wrong all this time.

The two terms are interchangeable, so in your example, both refer to the same thing: levels in that prestige class. "Class level" is generally mentioned only within a class and means the subset of your character levels in that class. If an ability were referring to all your levels, the most common and proper term is "character level," thoug Hit Die (HD) is sometimes used equivalently if whatever the item in question is likely to be used by creatures with racial HD.
