The Treasure of the Tierra Padre... [Knight Otu Judging]

More often than not, a clear and mostly dry path can be found amongst the cypress and reeds, leading in a more or less southerly direction. Still your boots quickly soak through and fill will swamp muck, and any socks you happen to be wearing become amost unbearably sodden.

Rogier grins while taking another good look around him, not feeling much for getting jumped on by some wild animal.

At the very same moment Rogier forms the thought, the submerged log he is about to step over rushes to the surface of the water and spins about to lunge at his leg. He falls over backward to escape the gaping maw of teeth that has suddenly opened up before him.

A crocodile nearly three times as long as Rogier is tall lies across the path southward. For now, the crocodile holds its ground, its mouth opened wide and lowly growling with deep menace.

It looks hungry.

'Grendath's mercy' Razir rasps surprised and quite a bit frightend. 'What kinda beast..'

Instinctively he takes a step backwards, the rogues agile hands darting for his weapons. Somehow, the slender Rapier and fine crossbow, deadly in the dark alleys of Orussus seem awfully inadequate when facing the scaled monster.

Is this a fight? We roll the dice (like Initiative) ourselfs?

Gath

Ah! Good! Me show them me smash good. Gath thinks as he sees the crocodile. Unless someone else is quicker than he is and tell him to back off, Gath advances and strikes the beast with his glaive. He places himself at some distance [OOC: 10 feet] of the crocodile, in order to use his polearm effectively.

"What a monster!", Oirhandir thought to himself as he stared at the gaping maw of the creature that barred the path.

Quickly, he dug in his pack for his chimes, and began playing "Geordel and the Serpent" just as he did during the attack at the mill a few days before. A crocodile might be even less of a sea serpent than the tiny vipers were, but it was a sizeable opponent, it was scaly, and it had come from the water of the swamp...

Oirhandir hoped to inspire his companions to fight well when dealing with the beast, then to join them as soon as the first verse was finished.

OoC: Move action to retrieve chimes, standard action to Inspire Courage

Ignatiouis O'Reilly

Iggy raises his crossbow, but shouts to Gath. "Wait! Is there a way around? Let's back away slowly. There's no point in fighting a crocodile if we can avoid it!"

Almayce suppresses a frown when Razir mentions another deity, prepares his crossbow and waits to see what will happen. He shortly ponders whether crocodile meat is edible and/or expensive.

"I doubt we can avoid it now we have awoken it, dear Iggy. May Hyrag bless us in overcoming this beast!"
Quickly he draws his axe and shield for a first hit on the crocodile.

Well Pbartender, could you please clarify if the croc actually attacks or sits there hissing aggressively and, in the former case, post some Initiative results.

Razir's actual action will likely differ alot, depending on what situation we face.

Thanks

OOC: Have patience. I posted just yesterday. I have to wait for the rest of you to respond before I can decide on how the crocodile reacts. It also takes a considerable amount of time to look up all the pertinent stats for your characters each round. If everyone were to have a link to their character's stat blocks listed in their signatures, it would help immensely.

Even then, I don't check this message board every hour... As much fun as this PBP game is, I do have other more important things to do, on occasion.

So far, the situation is exactly as I described it. Had I wanted the crocodile to attack you immediately, I would have posted it.

More later.
