The Treasure of the Tierra Padre... [Knight Otu Judging]

Round 1:

Initiative Order:
19 Razir
18 Crocodile
18 Gath
17 Rogier
11 Iggy
8 Oirhandir
6 Almayce

Combat Summary: A crocodile floats in the water just 10 feet in front of Rogier. Everyone else is strung out behind him in a line along the path. Everyone is within 30' of the crocodile. Currently, the crocodile is holding its ground and making threatening noises at Rogier. Everyone has drawn weapons. Rogier and Gath are preparing to close in and attack.

OOC: Please confirm your actions, everyone.

OoC: Oirhandir does not have a weapon in hand, unless you count the little mallet he uses to play his chimes as a weapon. I'm not 100% clear on whether we are all dismounted or not, but either way Oirhandir would not have his staff in hand, as he would if he were on foot and not leading a mount.

As for an action, Oirhandir will wait until battle is unavoidable to begin playing. Judging from the initiative order, that will probably depend on either the crocodile or Gath. But if it becomes obvious that combat is the only outcome, the first round will be accompanied by the sound of Oirhandir's chimes. (Inspire Courage)

Holding his crossbow in one shaking hand and retreating carefully, Razir skillfully fishes for a trail ration of dried meat from his bag.
'May.. maybe we could distract it with some food?'

OoC:
Hand Crossbow readied incase the croc attacks:
Attack +2 / Damage 1d4

Have patience. I posted just yesterday. I have to wait for the rest of you to respond before I can decide on how the crocodile reacts.
I'm patient alright, I just wanted some clarifications. I still get confused alot of times in these sort of games... sorry if my questions annoyed you

It also takes a considerable amount of time to look up all the pertinent stats for your characters each round. If everyone were to have a link to their character's stat blocks listed in their signatures, it would help immensely.
There is a link, but somehow my signature doesn't show up every time.. dunno why.

Even then, I don't check this message board every hour... As much fun as this PBP game is, I do have other more important things to do, on occasion.
Well, again, I only wanted some clarification.. not hassle you, time wasn't an issue.

OOC: If the croc attacks, Rogier will do so as well.
If (s)he does not, Rogier will back away slowly, shielding off the horses from the croc.

On the signature-note; only the first post on a page will contain the signature.

OOC: No problem, Z... I work a rotating shift, and had just finished up a week's worth of midnight shift. I was still getting out of the groove of 'day-sleeper', and didn't read the post with very happy eyes. Sorry if I grumped too hard.

Gath, att:+6, dam:1d10+8 (1 point in power att), ac:16(flat:14), hp:36

Not really convinced by the warnings of the others, Gath says "Bah! He be us food!" and moves beside Rogier (10 ft. from the croc). He attacks it if it has already proven hostile. Otherwise, he'll just ready himself to slash it, should it decides to lunge at them.

Iggy

Iggy, likewise, will ready his crossbow. If the croc attacks, he will shoot at it. (+5 1d8) "Let's retreat slowly" he says to the others.

Mexican Stand-off!

Everyone arms themselves, and waits... The crocodile, apparently unwilling to attack when outnumbered, but equally unwilling to back down and surrender its territory, creeps up out of the swamp water. It cautiously approaches Rogier and Gath, with its jaws still wide open. Grumbling growls and spitting hisses warn you away.

Round 2:

Initiative Order:
19 Razir
18 Crocodile
18 Gath
17 Rogier
11 Iggy
8 Oirhandir
6 Almayce

Combat Summary: The crocodile has taken a 5' step toward Rogier and Gath, and now stands on the path adjacent to both of them. Everyone else is still strung out behind them in a line along the path. Everyone is within 30' of the crocodile. Currently, the crocodile is holding its ground and making threatening noises at Rogier. Everyone has drawn weapons and is prepared to retaliate if the crocodile attacks.

Rogier takes a deep look in the creature's eyes, and suddenly it hits him; this creature is probably just as afraid of him as he is of it.
Raising his battleaxe, he yells at the creature with his most threatening voice:
"Begone beast, or you will be cut down!"
He maintains his axe above his head, readying if the crocodile decides to attack.

Oirhandir paused, his mallet in midair, ready to strike the first note. There was no sense in putting his all into his music if there wasn't a reason for inspirational music.

Thinking ahead to what might happen after blows were struck, the bard looked around for a place where he could have an unobstructed view of the beast. Seeing it, he moved in that direction. Rogier looked more threatening with his battleaxe raised; perhaps the whole party would look more intimidating if they spread out so the beast could see them all.

OoC: To clarify, Oirhandir wants a clear line of sight to some portion of the beast that is at least 10 feet from any party member. If he can do this without stepping off "somewhat dry" land, he will, even if that means stepping off the path. He won't go into the water to do so. This is a 5-foot step action, no more. The chimes are still readied, and will be played as soon as hostilities commence. He's also hoping that by stepping "out of line", he will help the party look like more of the threat to the croc.

If he can't get a clear line of sight with a 5-foot step but possibly could by going farther, he'll take this step this round, and possibly another step next round if the Mexican stand-off continues.

And I'm still not clear on where our animals are. Under us, beside us, behind us, running down the path in terror, what?
