OOC: For the record, I've relegated Razir and Gath to 'hireling' NPC status. For now, they are back at the camp standing guard and will not participate in the adventure, unless their players return.

Have faith that I will present no challenges that you cannot overcome with your current characters.

Rogier:

[sblock]Rogier reaches the bottom of the pool, and swims about twenty yards along a rough, rock tunnel. The end of the tunnel opens up into a second well, much like the first. Rogier surfaces for fresh gasp of breath.

The paladin finds himself in another cavern. Drips of water echo, but he cannot tell how big the chamber is due to a thick foggy mist surrounding him. Even with the bright light of the sunrod, he can barely see his own outstretched hand.[/sblock]

OOC: Venus, Rogier currently has a sunrod, a dagger, and the rope tied around his waist... and if you be so kind as to reply using the 'SBLOCK' tags. Thank you.

Iggy:

Iggy dives down to the bottom of the pool, and looks down the tunnel. It is made of rough stone, and is easily wide enough for him to swim down.

Iggy dives down to the bottom of the pool, and looks down the tunnel.

Oirhandir and Almayce paid out the line as Iggy dove. The two elves took careful measurements of both time as distance as he swam, ready to pull him back at precisely the 60-second mark.

OOC: I know you wouldn't throw anything at us that we couldn't handle, Pbartender. I also know the party is embarking on a very risky phase, and if Iggy is killed I won't hold it against you.

Before diving in, Iggy casts Mage armor on himself. He also takes a waterskin, takes a big drink then pours the rest out. He then puffs it a bit to fill it with air, and screws on the cap. "This will hopefully give me one nice breath of air down there." He then strips down to only his belt, somewhat ashamed of his lack of muscular definition. Though hearty, he is small and a little chubby. Fortunately, there are no women present.

To his belt, he afixes his dagger and his alligator skin book holder. He slings his 'airskin' over his shoulder. (weight approx 2 pounds)

His eyes show fear, and determination. "It's been nice working with all of you." He puts Kenedy on Oirhandir's shoulder and smiles weakly at his little friend. "If you two come as well, just leave Kenedy here; he'll be fine fending for himself. Same signals. Two tugs mean follow me. Three mean get me out ASAP." He then dives on in.

Once underneath: [SBLOCK] Iggy keeps swimming towards the light.[/SBLOCK]

OOC: Don't forget that Detect Evil is a 60' cone, and requires concentration (a standard action) to maintain.

Rogier focuses his attention on the area before him, and for a brief moment, he can sense the unmistakable presence of evil. Then, suddenly, it is gone, fled out of his field of focus. Before he has a chance to scan a new area, a stream of thick, viscous liquid falls on him from above. It splashes over his hair, and flows down over his ear. An acrid tang assaults Rogier's nostrils, and the liquids bites stingingly into his skin and scalp. 3 hp acid damage.

Combat Summary: Rogier uses Detect Evil, and briefly senses the presence of evil of front of him. The Unknown Evil moves out of the range of Rogiers's Detect Evil. A stream of acid hits Rogier from above. He fails his Reflex Save (1 +4 = automatic failure) and takes 3 points of acid damage.

Rogier is now at 18 hp.

Iggy keeps swimming towards the light.

Iggy, in a fine imitation of a frog, pushes himself a good ten feet down the tunnel. The light at the other end of tunnel is dim and wavering and the distance remaining is hard to estimate without another source of illumination.

Shaking his head wildly to get rid of the acid on it, Rogier looks at the ceiling, holding his sunrod up high. If he sees the thing he's fighting, he'll take a swing at it. "Both foul and cunning, and soon vanquished!" Rogier yells at the unknown thing.

Rogier thrusts the sunrod high over his head, in a futile effort to pierce the thick, clinging mist. The fog glimmers with the dispersed radiance, but Rogier still cannot see farther than five feet away, and even then his hand and the sunrod are fading into the mist. As he strains his eyes to get even the slightest glimpse of his foe, he picks up an odd sound... An eerie admixture of chirping and purring comes from almost directly above him, as if some sort of song bird had mated with an house cat and the abominable result was now perched somewhere up on the ceiling of the cave.

The odd sound ends in a short cough, and almost immediately, not a thick strem as previously but a trio of large drops of liquid fall out of the mist from above. One of them catches Rogier squarely on the shoulder, and as it soaks through the fabric of his tunic, he again feels the chemical sear of acid on his skin. 1 hp acid damage.

Combat Summary: Rogier readies an action to attack any hostile creature that approaches within reach. Another smaller blob of acid hits Rogier from above for 1 point of acid damage.

Rogier is now at 17 hp.
