Rogier steps back to the edge of the pool of water from which he emerged. He continues focusing on the source of evil, the details of its nature becoming increasingly clear.
Again the chirping cough, and a blob of acid flies out of the mist. It hits Rogier square in the forehead as he directs his evil-sense upward. The the liquid sears as it runs back through his scalp and hair, but Rogier ignores the intense pain and keeps his concentration firmly planted on the evilness lurking above.
His ears becoming accustomed to the odd echoes of the cavern, Rogier can pick out a faint flapping, like bat wings, about twenty feet up in the air, and not quite directly over his head... Approximately from the same spot he previously heard the chirping purr.
