D&D (2024) The Two Forgotten Realms Books Were Not Finalized At Their Announcement, Artificer & Species Could Still Be For It

Is this speculation or do you have documentation?
100% hopeful(?) speculation. The evidence we are even getting an artificer anytime soon is the UA we had not to long ago. And the only evidence presented in the OP is that the video and article (no links provided) had different names for the two books.

I don’t really think about WotC books until after people had a chance to use them.

Except for the new core books. I am looking forward to the MM!

I don’t care for the Forgotten Realms, I never played in the setting.

The Para-Genasi and Quasi-Genasi would be better in a sourcebook style "Planescape Player Handbook/Planar Handbook".

Why not also Wood Genasi and Metal Genasi? And the abyssal genasi.

My opinion is players who spend money would rather mainly crunch or players' options, and monsters compedium. The lore is nice, but you only read it once.

And we don't want only crunch. 3.5 Ed had got a lot of crunch, but after buying a lot of books I was too sick with too many feats, spells, magic items and prestige classes. And we don't need nPCs for each prestige class or subclass.

Some 3.5 FR sourcebooks could be used for other settings, for example "the Underdark" and "the Serpent Kingdoms".

* Other important point that we have forgotten is not only the other regions (Kara-Tur, al-Qadim and Maztica) but the Realmspace. This could be rebooted after the Sundering event. Maybe a new planet could be added to be a spin-off of Dark Sun or Jackandor.

* My suggestion is a sourcebook style "Moderkainen's Monsters of Multiverse" but focused into the other regions: Kara-Tur, al-Quadim and Maztica.

Why not also Wood Genasi and Metal Genasi?
Pathfinder 2nd edition Remastered has two kinds of Geniekin who essentially are that RPGs take on the Wood and Metal Genasi. The Ardande and the Talos.

My thoughts are that they will 100% go into a 2026 Xanthar's/Tasha's type book.

Why would you, an admitted FR fan, want the Artificer and generic D&D species taking up precious pages in a book that should be solely dedicated to FR information? At best, maybe some FR-specific species and subclasses, but it's hard to come up with any that wouldn't be better off served as being part of a general D&D book. As an FR fan myself, I absolutely hope that they don't show up in the upcoming FR books.

Your point makes alot of sense, although we already know we will have FR specific subclasses in the FR Player's Guide, so that is confirmed at least. There are some FR specific species too like Sariuals, that don't really appear in other settings.

Thing is, they might not have been final in August when they announced them...but they were likely feature complete already, hence why they felt comfortable announcing the contents in bullet point form. I wouldn't expect any further play options beyond what they enumerated...because if they were doing it, they would list on the PR info.

For the record, this is what was said:

When we revisited the core rules for fifth edition D&D, we were spurred to also revisit the game’s most popular setting: the Forgotten Realms. The setting will be featured in two full-sized sourcebooks—The Forgotten Realms Player Guide (working title) and The Forgotten Realms Adventure Guide (working title).

The Forgotten Realms Player Guide contains everything players and Dungeon Masters need to play in this beloved D&D setting. It contains a setting overview for new and returning players, as well as the following player options:

  • Subclasses
  • Feats
  • Backgrounds
  • Spells and a new type of spell
  • Key information on factions such as the Harpers and Zhentarim and how to join them

The Forgotten Realms Adventure Guide will be a trove of information and resources for Dungeon Masters to create their own epic fantasy adventures. It will also contain five in-depth setting guides for iconic locations in the Forgotten Realms that support a variety of adventure genres:

  • Baldur’s Gate
  • Calimshan
  • The Dalelands
  • Moonshae Isles
  • Icewind Dale
