D&D (2024) The Two Forgotten Realms Books Were Not Finalized At Their Announcement, Artificer & Species Could Still Be For It

Yeah the titles are working but what’s in them is probably settled. Curious what new type of spell means

I bought Magic of Incarnum and I didn't dislike it, it had got some interesting ideas but for the current criteria would need more feedback. The incarnate and soulborn classes were too linked to aligment, practically paladins with strange powers.

I disliked the spines as natural weapons of the skarns (a PC race specie). They couldn't wear ordinary.

And monsters with complicated game mechanics with complex mechanics slows down the game.

The incarnum soulmelds should work like intechangeable feats, using the points of essence for metamagic efects,

The martial maneuvers from "Tome of Battle" should be easier to be adapted to 5e, but the reload of the crusader.

Maybe WotC would rather these game mechanics to be worked by 3PPs what publish in DMGuild.
 

I will point out that if it was in 3rd edition, it’s technically not new.
It really depends on what they mean by "new"...say, "new to 5E" is different from "new to the FR" or "new to D&D writ large".

My impression at thw tike of the direct, which might just be my interpretation, was that they mean some sort of Spells that are not in the 8 Schools...so, "new to 5E".

What kind of Spells would not be in the 8 schools?

Maybe Planar schools, like how some 3rd party D&D products have like Elemental schools like fire/water/wind/earth schools.
 




If we do an artificer, I'd like it to be 1. available in the license for third-party development and 2. a history lesson that puts to rest the idea that high tech doesn't belong in DND.

I'd start with Blackmoor/Greyhawk, but Forgotten Realms has the presence of modern tech, as shown by this recent video by Ed Greenwood.


Is it just me, or did Ed just very politely call Jeff Grubb a meany head? :D :p
